XX LINCOLN, NEBRASKA 4-H Club Entries at County Fair Todate we have received a record number of entries from Antelope County 4-H Club members. Two-hundred and sixtyeight club members have entered exhibits at the 1966 Antelope County Fair.

Livestock entries total about 110 beef, 50 35 dairy, 10 hogs, and 30 horses. Nearly a thousand entries have been received in foods, clothing, homeliving, garden and other projects. 4-H activities get off to an early start at the fair with the judging of 4-H swine at 7:30 a.m. Friday, August 26. These will be followed by 4-H sheep at 9:30 a.m.

and 4-H horses following at 11:00 a.m. Judging of 4-H dairy gets underway at 2:00 p.m. with 4-H Dress Revue scheduled at 8:00 p.m. On Saturday, August 27 judging of 4-H beef begins at 8:30 a.m. The grand champion beef animals will be selected before the grandstand before the rodeo performance at 7:15 p.m.

JIM HUELLE FAMILY MOVES TO TILDEN Mr. and Mrs. Jim Huelle and family have moved from Casper, to Tilden. They are living in the Frank Novotny house in the south part of town. The Huelles have opened the White Way Cafe on Highway 275 in Meadow Grove.

Mohrs Will Note 50th Anniversary On the occasion of the 50th wedding anniversary of Dr. and Mrs. A. P. Mohr, their children invite the friends of the family to an "Open House" at their home in Clearwater on Sunday, August 28th from 2 to 5 p.m.

Sqdn. Box 489, Dr 17 APO San Francisco 96337 Susan Comer Weds George Petersen Miss Susan Comer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Comer of Skidmore, became the bride of George Petersen, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Alvin Petersen of Tilden, the afternoon of July 10, 1966 at the Skidmore Christian Church. Wayne Hasselquist performed the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with flowers and candelabras. Tim Petersen, brother of the groom, accompanied by Diane Enders, organist, sang several songs. The bride, given in marriage by her parents, chose a floor length gown of imported Chantilly lace over taffeta. The fitted bodice was fashioned with a scalloped rectangle neckline, accented with sequins and long tapered sleeves.

The full skirt was made with an apronette in the front and a cascade of ruffles in the back fell into an aisle wide train. Her tiered fingertip length veil of imported French silk illusion was caught with a double tiara of pearls. Her only, jewelry was a diamond pendent, a gift from the groom. The bride carried a bouquet of white roses atop a white Bible. Miss Ethel Kuhlman of Storm Lake, Ia.

was maid-of-honor and wore a floor length gown of light blue slipper satin with a white Rachael lace bodice and a circular veil which fell from a blue satin bow. Miss Merna Petersen, sister of the groom, and Miss Cheryl Myers of McCook were bridesmaids. They wore light blue slipper satin gowns with Empire waists of blue Rachael lace. Each carried a bouquet of white, feathered Misses Pamela Hodge and Roberta Jones were candlelighters. Ruth and Ramona Petersen, twin sisters of the groom, were flower girls.

Joe Petersen, brother of the groom was ringbearer. Tim Petersen was his brother's best man. Mern Escritt of Macedonia, Ia. and Larry Glandt of Norfolk were groomsmen. Jim Johnston, Lincoln, and Jim Blake of Julesburg, Colo.

The bride's mother wore a 3- piece beige lace suit and beige Jean Soulier Will Leave for Germany Miss Jean Soulier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Soulier, will leave Tilden on Saturday for New York City from where she sails on Monday for Germany to spend the coming year. Del Peck Serves As Instructor for Drivers Course Consumers Public Power District employees from 16 towns in the Norfolk district recently completed a Driver Improvement course.

This involved 74 employees who drive company vehicles either part or full-time. Del Peck of Tilden and Cleon Roselius of Norfolk, two Consumers' employees, were qualified instructors for the course. R. D. Collins, job trainings supervisor, Columbus, and State Highway Patrolman James O'Dell of Norfolk, assisted with parts of the course.

The 8-hour Driver Improvement course is a nation-wide program designed and prepared by the National Safety Council to inform licensed drivers about defensive driving. Consumers is one of the first in the state to make use of the course for employees. "By offering this training to our drivers, we hope to cut down on motor vehicle accidents and help our employees make a better contribution to the safety objectives in the state and the communities in which they live and work," said M. M. Mehring, Consumers' safety supervisor.

LeRoy Parks of the Tilden office completed the course. PROUD PARENTS REINKE Mr. and Mrs. Merle Reinke are the parents of a daughter, born on August 10, 1966 at the Tilden Hospital, The little lady was named Dianne Yvonne and weighed 8 lbs. 8 oz.

She has 2 sisters, Tammy and Theresa. Mr. and Mrs. Omer Reinke are grandparents. BELLAR MM2 and Mrs.

John Bellar Jr. are the parents of a son born August 11, 1966 in Formosa. He weighed 7 Ibs. 13 oz. and was named Keith, Allen.

His brother Kevin Lee 45 17. months old. Mr. and Mrs. John Bellar are grandparents and Mrs.

Martha Uecker is the great grandmother. John is in the Navy and his stay of years in Formosa will be up in November. 74th Year Per Year $3.50 Walter Childs Passes Away; Funeral Today The Funeral Services for Walter E. Childs, 62, will be held at the First Baptist Church in Norfolk at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Aug.

18. Burial will be in the 100F Cemetery in Tilden. Walter had entered the hospital on Saturday and passed away the next morning. He lived in Tilden with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs.

Lewis Childs, until 10 years ago. GRAVESIDE SERVICES HELD AT BATTLE CREEK Graveside services were held Monday morning at the Battle Creek Cemetery for the infant son stillborn Sunday morning to Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Schulze of Battle Creek. Rev.

Vetter officiated. Mrs. Schulze is the former Shirley Means. He is survived by his parents, a brother Kevin and grandparents Mr. and Mrs.

The groom's mother wore a 2-piece green printed suit with beige accessories. Both wore corsages of light blue feathered carnations. A reception was held in the church dining hall following the ceremony, Mrs. Arnold Platt of Wichita, aunt of the bride cut and served the 3-tiered wedding cake, which was baked and decorated by Mrs. Eldon Willjams of Maryville.

Mrs. Eldon Murray of Maryville presided at the punch bowl. Miss Margaret Young of Lincoln presided at the guest book and Mrs. Larry Glandt, Norfolk; Miss Bonnie Petersen and Miss Sharon Hilton, Little Sioux, Ia. $4.50 TILDEN, Clarence Halsey Taken by Heart Attack Sunday Funeral services for Halsey will be held on Thursday morning, August 18 at 10 a.m.

at the Marshall Mortuary Chapel in Tilden. Rev. Douglas Jones of Meadow Grove will officiate. Burial will be in Hillerest Memorial Park in Norfolk. Mr.

Halsey passed away suddenly Sunday evening at the Al Renner farm near Battle Creek. He had driven there with his 2 sons earlier. Mr. Halsey, who was 44, had been in ill health for several years. The family had moved to a farm 3 miles south of Tilden this spring from a farm northwest of Meadow Grove.

Funeral Held for Mrs. Susan Snavely Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Snavely of Lincoln were held from the St. Edward Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. August 8, 1966.

Rev. Melvin Laws and Rev. L. A. Hansen officiated.

Mrs. Hazel Condreay and Mrs. Ivan Maricle sang, accompanied by Mrs. Fay Smith. Pallbearers were grandsons Lamar Price, Ivan Maricle, Junior Crause, Don Cruise, Howard Mattison and Marvin Kearney.

Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery, St. Edward. Susan Virginia Snavely was born November 30, 1873 in Wythe County, and passed away August 6, 1966 at Providence Hospital in Lincoln. She had made her home with her son law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs, C.

R. Mattison in Lincoln for the past 14 years. She was a member of a First Nazarene Church in Lincoln. On April 29, 1891 she was married to William M. Snavely at her parent's home in Groseclose, Va.

They moved to Nebraska in 1905 and lived most of the time on a farm in the Edward vicinity. To this union were born ten children: Mrs. Ollie Webb, Muncie, Mrs. Ora Mattison, Lincoln; Phillip Snavely of Boone; David Snavely, St. Edward; Mrs.

Zella Nelson, Tilden; Mrs. Iva Jensen, Fairbault, Minn. and Mrs. Maxine Osgood, Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by two sisters and four brothers: Mrs.

R. G. Hurt, Mrs. Bruce Leedy, Wayne Meridith, Bill Meridith, all of Rural Retreat, Claude Meridith of Boone and Rhudy Meridith of Powell, Wyo. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son Harlow, two daughters, Mrs.

Ruth Evans and Mrs. Bessie Price. ASC County Convention Set For August 31 The county convention where farmer -chosen delegates will elect farmers to fill vacancies on the Antelope County ASC Committee will be held August 31, 1966 at 1:00 p.m. at the Neligh Legion Club, according to Henry J. Chairman, ASC Ceunty Committee.

The convention will be open to the public, and any person interested in observing the voting procedure may attend. However, only farmer-delegates to the convention may participate in the elLection. Election is by secret ballot and plurality vote. After the county committeemen are elected the delegates will then determine which of the regular committeemen will serve as chairman and vice chairman for the coming year. Mr.

Wilgocki urged all ASC farmer-delegates to be sure to attend the county convention. These farmers were automatically chosen as convention delegates when they were elected recently by their farmer-neighbors to serve as ASC community committeemen for the coming year. Isn't It The Truth? Everybody tells you that you can't take it with you, but hardly anybody mentions the fact that you can't travel very far without it. Bruno Oelsligle, were married Sunday, August 14th at 4 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church by Rev. G. O. Kebschull.

A complete wedding report and a picture of the bride and groom will appear in next week's Tilden Citizen. Charles Hofmann's Father Succumbs Henry Hofmann of Wahoo who died of a heart attack Friday, August 12, was laid to rest last Monday. Services were held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Wahoo. Mr. Hofmann had coached at Shickley, Comstock and Harvard.

He officiated football until An All-Nebraska College Conference end at Peru in 1928 and 1929, he is survived by his wife, sons Gary, coach at Elkhorn, and Charles, a pharmacist at Tilden. Demonstration Day State Entries are Listed The Madison 4-H Demonstration Day was busy with activity of 28 demonstrators. The judges and audiences viewed 22 demonstrations. and Mrs. Roy Barkdoll returned Wednesday from a 2- week trip to the Pacific Northwest. They went as far north as Smithers, which is about 100 miles from Alaska. The men also fished a couple of days. RECEIVES MASTERS DEGREE SATURDAY Mrs.

Vivian Lindahl McBride of Boynton Beach, received her Masters Degree in Education Saturday at graduation exercises from Florida Atlantic University at Boca Raton. She will teach migrant children in the Palm Beach County school system. She had previously been teaching several years. Vivian is a graduate of Tilden High School and Yankton College at Yankton, S.D. She and her husband have a son who graduates from high school next year and a daughter who starts to school this fall.

She is the daughter of Mrs. August Lindahl. NEXT 2-BALL FOURSOME WILL BE HELD AUGUST 28 Twenty-eight ladies turned out for golf Thursday morning at the Antelope Country Club. Naomi Marrs was winner of both the door and golf prizes. The 2-ball foursome on Sunday was hosted by Mr.

and Mrs. Les Falter and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hansen. Winners included Lois Werner, Dale Strehm, Millard Rethwisch, Phyllis Sullivan, Layton and Donna Baker, Margaret' Johnson, Helen Anderson, Francis Rotherham, Les and Verlyn Falter and Chas.

Sullivan. The next 2-ball foursome will be on August 28 with Mr. and Mrs. Millard Rethwisch and Mr. and Mrs.

John Johnson as hosts. Tee off starts promptly at 3:00 p.m. with drawing for partners earlier. There will be no golf Thursday morning, August 25, but a stagette begining at 3 p.m. will be held instead.

Women's Clubs Plan Convention Plans for the 48th annual convention of the Madison County Federation of Women's Clubs were made recently when the secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Ernest Duhachek of Newman Grove, entertained club presidents and county officers at a one p.m. luncheon at her home. Present from Tilden were Mrs. J.

C. Wilcox, president of the Tilden Woman's Club, and Mrs. Lester E. Ike, vice president of the Madison County Federation. Mrs.

Duhachek was assisted by her daughter and Mrs. Jack Bumgarner, county president. The convention will be held at the Norfolk City Auditorium on September 19th with registration at 9:30 a.m. A no host luncheon will be served at noon. Each one attending is asked to bring a covered dish.

Table service need not be taken. Highlights of the day will be talks by Mrs. William H. Hasebrook, West Point, immediate past president of the General Federation: Miss Ruth Ebmeier, Laurel, newly elected president of the Nebraska Federation, and by Mrs. Duane Clantanoff, Clarkson, president of.

District No. 3. Rites Conducted For Wesley Drew Funeral services for Wesley W. Drew, 59, of Columbus, was held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Columbus.

The Rev. E. C. Basler officiated with burial in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. bus businessman, died Monday Mr.

Drew, a long time Columat Lutheran hospital after a brief illness. He was born July 6, 1907, at St. Charles, the son of Elva and Mamie Crowe Drew. Mr. Drew was married to Miss Mildred Huston, daughter of Mrs.

Sarah Huston of Tilden, where Mrs. Drew attended school. He attended school at Battle Creek. He was engaged in the tire and gravel business at Columbus. Mr.

Drew was active in various organizations including Elks Country Club, Eagles Lodge and Izaak Walton League. Survivors are his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Edward (Patricia) Trofholz Mrs. Hart (Sandra) Keating and Deborah, at home; five grandchildren; one brother, Cecil Drew of Fullerton; and one sister, Mrs. Floyd Coulson of Sioux City, Ia.

He was preceded in death by his parents sister and two grandchildren. Mrs. Don Nelson (Dorothy Huston), sister of Mrs. Drew of Clearlake Highland, flew here for the services and Mrs. Drew's brother, Lester Huston of Carthage, attended the services.

Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Hansen and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hansen who are cousins of Mrs.

Drew, attended the funeral on Friday. HMC JOE URBINA TO GO TO VIETNAM SOON HMC Joe Urbina will leave for Vietnam on August 23. He is a Hospital Corpsman Chief in the U.S. Navy attached to the 3rd Marine Division. The Urbinas visited in Tilden on Saturday.

Joe has been attending school in. California. The Urbina family will remain living in Lincoln where Mrs. Urbina is a teacher. Joe was a former.

hospital administrator at Tilden. Notice Tilden will host a fall celebration on September 10th with the old-fashion days as the theme. A contest to name the day is being launched this weekend by the retail trade committee composed of Bayne Hash, Kenneth Petersen, Bruno Batenhorst, I Les Falter and Commercial Club President, Wayne Olmsted, to find an appropriate name for the day. A prize of $15.00 goes to the winner. You may enter as many times as you like.

The selection of the committee is final and the winner will be announced at the barbecue the evening of the Sept. 10. This year the day will be called Tilden "Whatzit" Day. The day is- being planned to have a lot of fun the old-fashion way and is not a sale promotion. It is hoped that the day can be built into a large annual celebration.

BARBECUE Some of the ready the big in the No. 170 part of been completed. One of items is a pit barbecue evening. The Legion Post will take care of this the program. PARADE A parade of a little different nature is planned.

As an annual affair it was thought a parade of old-time machinery and vehicles would be of great interest. This along with horses and a kidsparade should produce a parade that everyone will enjoy. HORSESHOE Another annual event of the day will be a horseshoe pitching contest with prizes offered. RACES AND CONTESTS Many races and other contests will be put on with prizes offered in different age groups. FIDDLERS CONTEST Also planned is an old-time fiddlers contest plus square dancing.

This is just a rough sketch of the days activities with many more to be added. Any group wishing to help with the days activities by sponsoring an oldtime event of their own is urged to contact one of the committee. ENTRIES TO CITIZEN It is hoped this item will help you in arriving at a winning name. All entries must be in the judges hands no later than Thursday, Sept. 8th.

All entries must be either mailed to The Citzen office or brought in personally and deposited. Be sure you sign your name and address. The winner of the $15.00 will be announced Sept. 10 along with the name of the day. COMMITTEE MEETING There will be a committee meeting at 9:30 Saturday morning at The Cottage.

The Weather. The weatherman has been very cooperative the past week in this area. Temperatures have ranged from 67 to 89 with the nighttime temps from 54 to 61. Tilden received an all day rain on Friday which left about 3 inches in town. Much heavier amounts, up to 6 inches, were reported in parts of the county.

Between Albion and Fullerton 13 inches was reported. Much fooding resulted in the St. Edward, Fullerton, Genoa and Coumbus areas. TILDEN PICNIC IN CALIF. WILL BE HELD SEPT.

A rehearsal dinner was given by Mr.

and Mrs. Alvin Petersen July 9 at Skidmore for members of the wedding party. Some Tilden subscribers have been inquiring about the Tilden picnic held annually in Calif. It will be held September 25 at the South Gate Park, Fire Circle No. 1, Tweedy near Atlantic, South Gate, Calif.
