SO. Alexander Rutherford and his bride of a few weeks, who was formerly Miss Helen D. Smith, a New York society belle, abruptly left the St. Francis Hotel last night because they could not take the bride's Det Alrsdale terrier into their apartments. Rutherford and his wife arrived in the city In the company of the Patrick Calhoun party and went directly to the St- Francis, where they engaged apartments in advance.

The baggage of the entire party was piled outside the ladles' entrance to the hostelry and as the corps of bell boys grabbed the bags to take them upstairs Rutherford and hla wife boarded the elevator with the dog. The elevator man refused to carry the pet upstairs, and then Rutherford went to the desk and got into communication with the management of the hotel, who refused to admit the dog. He ordered his "baggage downstairs and the same corps of bell 1soys came trooping down with bags and cases. A large bouquet of chrysanthemums was a part of the effects which were placed in the Rutherford taxi and whirled away to the Granada, where the couple made satisfactory arrangements for the dog. Rutherford is a stepson of the late George Crocker.

The confidence of the big matinee crowd was theirs at once and no more refined or daintier musical offering has been seen on this circuit 'in many months. Their repertoire embraces numerous blight selections rendered with exquisite artistic grace and the pronounced success attained by this clever team is but the natural reward for a so charmingly picturesque act, Patrons of the Bell remember with more or less- delight Fred Kama's "A Night In an English Music Hall." which produced so much talk during Its stay here a few months' ago.

Now comes another eminently successful offering of the same producer, "A Nlghf In a London Club," which carries about twice as many performers as did his other offering and which has made a tremendous Impression all over the East. Having hit a popular character in the Karno again furnishes us with that delightful character, the "Souse," In the person of Charles Chaplin, a character delineator of reputation." The scene is laid in a London club, where each member Is asked to entertain, with the result that some are hardly up to their work. The "Souse," of course. Is there to do the comedy, and he does it to perfection. THEY ARE CYCLONIC.

The offering of the Bailey Trio Is nothing short of a' cyclone of knockabout acrobatic stunts with a bunch of barrels. They have been, receiving very flattering comments in the press along the circuit, and their showing at the Bell yesterday Is proof of the truth of the many flattering comments they have received. One of the genuine discoveries is "A Fignt for Fame," absolutely new In point of Idea and the comedy surrounding it. The dialogue is rich in subtle humor and the songs which are generously sprinkled throughout, are new and of the Quinn Brothers' own creation. Miss Bosner, who is there with plenty of embellishment from the viewpoint of beauty, and ability, is, aside from her various other accomplishments, a clever pianist.

JUNOESOUE BEAUTY. Irene Hobson, a Junoesque beauty, who scored a recently distinctive triumph in "The Beauty Spot," presents a brilliant tabloid comedy, "A Business Proposal," assisted by Charles Deland, who scored a splendid success In Joe Howard's "Love and Politics." All of the comedy revolves around a popular actress who has advertised for a leading man, and the young man who must be married within a stipulated time or lose a legacy of $1,000,000, left by an eccentric uncle. The actress and the young man meet at the hotel. She believes him to be a leading man. and he believes her to be his bride- OF WEDSTEB DEAD Mme.

W. W. Dornan, pastor of 1 the Church of Pilgrimage, has given this historic town a terrific shock. According to Pastor Dornan the naive query by Priscilla, "Why don't you speak for yourself, John?" is merely poetic fantasy. John Alden -never came to Priscilla Mullins as spokesman for Miles Standish, but courted Priscilla for himself alone.

He also affirms that Captain Standish did not want anyhow. Pastor Dornan assails the story about the crack in Plymouth rock.
