Webber, a young mechanic of Oak 1'itrk, after ten years of experiment, believes that he has very nearly solved the problem of perpetual motion. At his home Is the working model of his Invention, which he says has run for two weeks with no apparent diminution of power. He believes that It will continue to d) so until the materials of which It Is constructed wear out. Power Is generated by the swift passage of a number of steel balls down a double lnllne, built In the general form of a tramrle. The halls are held together by a contrivance of buckets, which act as an endles-s chain.

The model Is six Inches In length, three Inches wide and eighteen ln lies high. The balls used In the model weighs only it pounds In all, yet he claims for his Invention the generation of sis horse power. In leading the highest point In the triangle the stet I balls pass down an Incline of 45 degrees and fall Into the pockets of a circular drum which oc-rupies the acute end of the triangle. With the revolution of this dnira the balls pass to a second Incline, set at alout SO degrees. When they reach the base of the trtsngle.

they are hoisted again Into place at the top by the weight of the other balls. Fo far, the Inventor affirms, the principle of friction has not 'seriously Interfered with the working of his machine. Ry supplying a variety of siies of wheels, he says, he has been able to multiply his power many times. A An electrical srarkins-maehtns Is In use In some of the Italian prisons.
