In the stores and especially In the real estate offices than before and the dealers In realty are as hsppy as tbey ever were when there was sufficient stir In the narket to keep them In motion. MANY INQUIRIES. The first Indication of an active season Is the demend for properties of all kinds.

Every dealer In the business has Informed the representative of THE TRIBUNE that he rever had more encouraging requests for property which necessarily commands a fair price. This, the dealer argues, shows that the people have some money left after having had a good time on their vacation. Borne of the dealers hare been asked to supply fine residences coating from $l000 to 12.000 and these men declare that tha city Is expanding and population There Is no lack of money. Investors are numerous. The in-ward flow of capital continues.

And at no time In Berkeley's history has th future looked brixhter. I NEW TRACTS OPENCO. New tracts of outside lands are betna subdivided and thrown on the marker. The men are all well paid. They are In some Instances working over time for the reason that their employers are loaded down with orders for which there Is a request for a speedy delivery, of course, for this over work, there Is extra pay and as a con eeuehce. tha operatives are contented and happy and the same state of mind Is aapertenced by the far-seeing men who have Invest, ed their money In this part of the city and who are securing a liberal return on their Investment. In the standard Oas company's plant there arc only about a hundred men employed at this time for tha reason that the management has not bean able to get tha tools which It needs for Its plsnt. This Is due to a variety of causes and misfortunes.

In the first place, tha concerns In tha East where te orders were place, more than a year ago. were unable to fill the same at the time or for months later, because of tha orders which had been on file before the local orders wert received. When, at length, the orders were partially filled, and the tools were put on the cars, the trains got Into a blockade and there they remained for a number of months and It was thought, for a time, that the order bad been lost. Tracers were sent out for the purpose of trying to locate the missing materials and It was only a few days ago that some of the cars containing the tools that had been ordered were located In the lily of New Tork. farther front their destina tion than they were when they started ror mis city.

Proof of the multiplicity of these sales may be found In the transcript of records which Is publlsued dally the columns of this paper. These records show that, at this time, there Is a great deal more activity, tn the realty business In this city than there Is In the city across the bay. This fact becomes all the more Important for the reason that, la nearly every Instanoe.

the purchase ef ene of those lets means the erection of a home and In some Instances, these homee will be ef a most substantial character. People who wlah to buy property, and ho are putting the purchase off for a time with the hope that there may be a reduction In the prices, are making a mistake, for the reason that It la well known fo the trsde that there will ba no reduction tn the values which are now prevailing. There Is ne hope ef a reduction, because those who bars property to sell havs money to more than supply their needs, without parting wlih their belongings, and there wlil therefore bo no necessity for their unloading their holdings en the market. Prices are not high when the demand la taken Into consideration, but thev sre firm, and a firm market is one of the meet stable proofs of the ooundneee ef the business snd the situation. i NEW IRON BEDS.

Tbey were there to stay. too. he said, for the reason that they were good workmen, and. as tbey were sure of steady employment they saw that It was to their Interest to be as close to their work as possible. Many of them had become so greatly pleased with the climate of this city that they could not tolerate the Idea of crossing the bay night and morning for the purpose of making a living- when they rould find employment and content tnent on this side of the bay.

SHIPPING FACILITIES. One of the advantages which this company, and the same Is true of all the other manufacturing firms In that neighborhood has. Is the facilities afforded for the shipping of their products from the very doors uf the factory, by the railroad on the one hand and by ahlps and steamers on the other. The Southern Pacific rtaltroad supplies one of these facilities by means of a. spur track and the steamers Grace Barton and the Sunol supply the other.
