second and came home on a double by Charles Carlson But Satre rebounded to record two easy groundouts and a strikeout to escape further damage Satre finished the day with 10 strikeouts and six walks the sixth With one out the Bulldogs strung together a single and two walks to load the bases Reese walked in a run with the bases loaded and gave up another run on a passed ball by AHS catcher Michael Ortiz Matt Sherwood relieved and pitched the last 3Vfc innings for the Eagles shutting the door on any further comeback attempts after yielding a single run in the bottom of the seventh after two infield errors AHS finally broke the tie on the scoreboard in the top of the ninth when Ortiz singled moved to third on the hit-and-run off a sacrifice bunt by Herrera and scared on a fly ball by Lance Finley Sherwood shut down the Bulldogs in the bottom of the ninth to secure the victory Ortiz led the way at the plate for the Eagles with a 2-for-3 performance In other District 4-5A action on Saturday the surprising Odessa Bronchos surprised San Angelo Central 5-4 at Broncho Field Designated hitter Brad Elder and shortstop Alex Spencer led the way for OHS now 2-2 in district play by going 2-for-4 and 2-for-2 respectively Spencer also homered for the Bronchos Central 1-2 in district with the loss was led by shortstop Manuel Gnmaldo who tripled and batted in two runs Aggies sweep a pair
