leader of municipal reform movement and as a tireless promoter of the city manager form of government Those who knew him during his 104-year life will remember his warmth His wit His knowledge of the law His devotion to the arts Perhaps more than anything they will remember his highly developed moral sense "THE THING that marks Murray Seasongood Is how well he did so many said Dr William A Baughln occasionally Incorporated Into his humor and he was "full of one-line "He would tell me say losing my mind but I don't miss It "He also told me once Hob I remind myself of an old college professor who had the same student In his class for four years but could never remember his name one day the student stood up and told him his name Later the professor met the student at some point In time and called him by his name The student was elated but the professor said to him It means so much to you for me to know your name been calling all of my students by your name so I would be sure and get It right1 Hilton said Mr Seasongood was "an old-fashioned man superbly educated He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard College and got a master's degree then went on to Harvard Law School was educated In the old-fashioned way He knew Latin French Greek wrote a casebook on municipal government gave speeches at Harvard and argued cases before the US Supreme HIS BIOGRAPHER described Season-good as a well-educated son of German Jewish Immigrants to become Involved In the overthrow of the Republican political machine In the early 1820s Baughln said It wasn't political ambition as much as combativeness and concern for ethics that led Mr Seasongood Into the fray that produced the type of government Cincinnati has today "What Mr Seasongood did was Ignite a lot of public outrage at the kind of corrupt politics that were present In Cincinnati In the said former Mayor Bobble Sterne a member of the Charter Party Mr 1 Seasongood helped form "He was a great orator and developed a
