INTERESTING CEREMONY TO-DAY Hew Ohurch and Congregation Has Lately Sprang Into Existence That To-day ia a day of rejoicing for the people of St Evangelical congregation This congregation was organized in July and is building an elegant new church on the corner of Baker avenue and Virginia street The corner-stone of this church will be laid at 2 today with appropriate ceremonies Extensive preparations have been made and an elaborate program prepared for the occasion The corner-stone will be laid by the pastor of St the Rev A Schmidt assisted by Rev Frick of church Rev Roller of Vincennes Indand Dr Gilleland of the Walnut Street Presbyterian church with several other visiting pastors The celebration will be opened by song rendered by the choir of churc)i and the choir from Vincennes Ind combined Rev Frick will deliver a German address followed by Dr Gilleland who will speak in the English language He will be followed by Rev Keller with a second German address The musical part of the program will be ren- dered by the choir of the Zion Church and a visiting choir from Vincennes Ind Several of the ministers from abroad will be present and will assist in making the irogram attractive An excursion will run from Vinoennes and other points and all of the surrounding congregations have announced their attention of attending the celebration and it is to be hoped went to work Mr Schmidt is an American but commands both the German and the English language and preaches in both He was zealously supported in his labors by men who do what they undertake to do and
