Courier to say that anyone leaving the city should report to him and special core will be taken of their property during their absence CRUSHED TO DEATH frank Hudson A Goal Miner Hilled by Falling Slate A fatal accident occurred at the Diamond Coal mines on the String-town road yesterday which resulted in the death of Frank Hudson aged 19 who has been in the employ of the company about a year The following facts were gleaned from the inquest: Yesterday morning Chas Domer Paul Schutheis Ben Sohn and Frank Hudson descended into tho mine and worked together until about 10 when Hudson went to another part of the mine to bail water That was the last seen of him alive At the noon hour Ben Sohn was sent to call him to go to the surface and found young Hudson lying at the entrance of one of the rooms on a heavy piece of timber used as a brace pinned there by a heavy piece of soapstone which had fallen on his breast from the roof while smaller pieces lay across his face He was badly crushed and quite death As soon as possible he was brought to the surface but it was seen at a glance that he was beyond earthly help The Coroner was notified and an inquest held yesterday afternoon resulting in a verdict being rendered in accordance with the facts Mr Hudson was one of three brothers that worked in the mine and lived with his parents near the old poor farm His Foot Cut Off Yesterday evening a son of John Schnablo living on Columbia street met with a serious accident He with a number of boys were playing about a number of cars which were being switched on the Union track and in attempting to jump on one of the ears he sllp-ed and fell between the moving wheels which caught his right foot and passed over it about an inch below the toes crushing and mangling the member so bad that amputation was necessary The boy was removed home quickly and his injuries carefully attended to and at list accounts he was resting easily AMUSEMENTS Opera House Next Monday night the over an area nine miles long by eight broad It is a city of immense distances For instance to go from the station as you come in from Yokohama lo tho station you leave to go into the country you cross a distanco of six miles or about twice as far as from the Battery to the Central Depot in New York Tho city is curiously laid out In the very center is a large round tract of land containing tho
