Mark Smidt Of Lakota With Teen Mission MARK SMIDT Mark Smidt of Lakota, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Smidt, left by plane from Minneapolis on June 10 for Merritt Island, Fla., to join a Teen Mission Team working with Teen Missions, Inc. Twenty-two teenagers and their team leaders left on Sunday night for Miami International Airport where they boarded the Aerocondor Airlines night to Barranquilla, Colombia, south America. Arriving in Barranquilla at 6:30 in the morning, they were met by a bus with open sides that took them to the Carmel Mission Station of the Evangelical Union of South America Mission. They crossed the Magdolena River by ferry and traveled a narrow, dirt road the last two hours of their trip. The teens will build a multipurpose tabernacle which is now under construction. They will also lay a pipeline down the mountainside for a new water- driven electric plant. The teen team will work on this project for five weeks and all of the work is volunteer. Mark graduated in May of 1971 from Lakota High School and will attend John Brown University at Siloam Spring, Ark., in the fall.
