The store is now quite complete and its owner manifests a desire to please. The past few days have been move spring-like and the wheat, grass, gardens aud Strawberry patches look luoro promising. It really does seem to be time for growing weather for here is the middle of May, almost and things so backward. Some years ngo it as not uncommon to have ripe strawberries from' the 1G to the 20th of May.

AVell it wont do to grumble. In passing the farm of Mr. Levin 'AY. Williams near Friendship M. E.

The "Aphis" or Peach louse is appearing in isinuinprahle numbers upon many of our orchards. The outlook peach direction is anythitig but pleasant; as yet no remedy is known to the public, and indeed the origin of the pest is not at all understood.

Some believe the ''lady bug" to be the parent, while the etowiologists insist that the bug is the fruit growers principal hope in destroying the aphis. AVe can't decide yet--one thing we do know, where the bugs there aie the lice. If the bug does not deposit them on the peach buds she follows, very spccdity. AA'ho enlighten us A REMARKABLE colored local preacher named John Andrews, of Georgetown, on Sunday night of last week murdered his wife through jcTilonsj-, and concealed himself edectu- ally for several days, though a mostdil- gunt search for him was made. His hiding pUce was at last discovered by a most remarkable dream as reported by several of our exchanges.

The facts sis stated are as follows Henry James who had with others been in search of the missing assassin, dreamed that he-was concealed in the attic of the colored church. No one knew of the church having an attic, but, after James dreamed that he found Andrews there, he took some friends and a ladder and discovered an aperture leading to the church loft, which he opened and called out, "John, come down." A full blooded came back, "I will if you won't hurt me," which caused Mr. James to take two steps--one down the ladder, the other one clear into the street. Notwithstanding the fright his friends ascended to the attic and captured the echo, "darkey" and all, and have him incarcerated in jail at the present time. He states that he has had nothing to eat since the murder, and explains the tragedy as a mere accident.

He claims lie threatened to shoot bis wife, when she told him she had taken the cap oft" the gun. She picked up the powder- horn and ran. He pulled the hammer back as she reached ibe door, and it slipped out of his fingers, and the gnu was discharged and sho fell. He did not stop to see if she was shot or had only fainted, but fled at once. AVhcn found she had the powder horn in her hand.

Andrews is a mulatto, rather fine looking, thirty years of age, has been married seven years, has no children, and was quite jealous of his wife, evidently without cause. His wife's funeral services took place in the church on Thursday of last week. He says that he was just preparing to leave the loft when the man on the lad- his residence in Frederica, suddenly with appoplexy Capt. James 8. Dowucs, aged 79 yrs and t) mouths.
