New Poverty Guidelines For School Lunches WASHINGTON, D.C. - Assist- ant Secretary of Agriculture Richard Lyng has announced the income poverty guidelines for determining children's eligibility for free or reduced price lunches in the 1971-72 school year. Use of the guidelines is mandatory for all schools unler the National School Lunch program and in other schools receiving federally-donated foods starting July 1, 1971. The new guidelines are higher than the 1970-71 guidelines. For example, last year, the income eligibility minimum for a family of four was $3,720. The new guidelines for the four-person family is $3,940, reflecting the latest statistics on poverty levels reported by the Bureau of the Census. Giddings, Burt, were united in marriage June 12 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Titonka, with Rev. Roger Hanson officiating at the 3 p.m. double ring ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a gown that she had designed herself. Nancy Moore, a friend of the bride from Mason City, attended as maid of honor; the bridesmaid, Gail Giddings, sister of the groom, was also attired in a gown designed by the bride. Charles Trunkhill, Algona, attended the. groom as best man; a brother jof the bride, Merle Ricklefs, was groomsman. The ushers were Craig Giddings, Larry Franzen and Keith Ricklefs. Music for the ceremony was provided by Sherman Finer, soloist, and Arvid Boyken, organist. Guests were registered by Donna Ricklefs. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Phelps were hosts at a reception held in the church parlors following the ceremony. Punch was dipped by Mrs. Lester Freeman, Council Bluffs; cake was cut and served by Mrs. Melvin Ricklefs and Mrs. Vernon Ricklefs; and coffee was poured by Mrs. Arthur Rike and Mrs. Guy Carlson, aunts of the bridal couple. Vivian Schmidt, Ladonna Culbertson, Gayle Ricklefs and Marilyn Post were waitresses. Louise Plaisier, Mrs. Morris Isebrand, Mrs. Lewis Franzen and Mrs. Raymond Franzen were in charge of opening the gifts. The bride is a graduate of Luther College, having majored in elementary education, and the groom is employed by Forest City Light and Power Co.
