Membera of the committee appointed to solict funds for the support of the Eureka baseball team made a canvass of the business district this -week and succeeded in raising a considerable sum of money.

The' called upon practically all of tho business men and did not get a ''turn down.J' The committeemen say they will have no trouble in getting enough money to give the camp a rattliug good team, ono of tho best in tho history of Tintic. Lists are to be circulated at the mines aud by tomorrow evening, when another meeting is to bo hold, the finance committee will no doubt havo an interesting report in readiness. Sonio or this money that has boon raised- will be usod in payiug off tho debts of the 1933 team "and quito a sum is needed for tho purchase of new uniforms and other equipment and for improving the grounds. Homer Plake, tho captain of jho Eureka ieamt already getting things lined up for fbo summer's plaving. lie thinks ho will havo no trouble in getting a couple of good mon to fill the vacant positions on the team and it will not bo long now until he will have the boys out tor their first prac-: tice.

All who are interested in tha gamo are requested to attoud tho meeting to be hold next Monday evening. Tho selection of a manacr for tho team will probably come up for discussion at that mooting. 1 WHERE EACH TEAM WILL BE EACH DAY FIRST HALF OF SEASON. SECOND HALF OF SEASON. inr.

'H (As given out b3' him in authorized 'rBH interview at training camp.) I'SbbBH My ideas for training a ball club in 'bBBbI the spring differ essentially from thoso 'iBBBBi put into practice by many other man- 'v 'BBBbI agers of big lcaguo clubs, and I have obtuincd good results and am satisfied with my system. IBBBbI There seems to bo a general belie IBBBbI that ball players have to be put cI'BBBbI through a severe course of training and jpB hard work to get into condition for tho i jpJJ regular plaj-ing season, but I havo ktH never believed in such a course. I 1'rbbBB never drivo my ball club bard in the i VM spring, for I do not want my players I iBBBbI to feel that they havo played half a iH season beforq tho season really opens. 1 While some clubs go south in rob- BaH ruarj, get my pla'ers together not BBBbI earlier than March 1, except that some mbbBbI of tho pitchers may be sent to tho i' JJJ baths, aa was the caso this year, when I BpH a number of my pitchers wont to Ar- I BBBal kansas Hot Springs for abont ten days 1' flpl before our training camp opened. But BBBal the month or six wocks that intervenes japB between March 1 and tho opening of tho 'bbbbI season is sufficient to' condition any 'BH ball player who is going to get into i IBH condition at all.

-t0BBBal One Workout Daily. PbbbbI In the training camps of which I havo bad charge therp has never been iBBbbI more than one practice session daily. iH That gives the players all the needed BBaal exorcise to loosen up their musclpo and at tho same time doeB not cause ny of them to got stiffoned up by toU jvcre WM exertionB beforo they aro prepaia for ibbtBbI them. Aftor a ball player has been idlo gVflV for nearly six inonthB his muscles are btbbtJ bound to bo soft and he must begin filBBaal training gradually if ho is to avoid ill- laTaTfll effects. Tho first two weeks of tho training caoenn 5r invnfnM tn tm-ri or three 'BBBBI hour sessions daily of routine batting and fielding practice, in which everV IbbbtJ player has a chance to do a little field- i jpH mg and batting, and this includes the rookies as well as the regular players BbbtJ on the club.

At the end ot each session I have the boys tun around the park pH couple of times to get up a good Baaal sweat, and theu go right to their 'ppi change rooms. In Houston we dressed ppB in the hotel, so that after the ruu ij pBH around the ball park the boys had to it pKVJ run back to tho hotel, which is only a Jr short distance from the park, where thev would got right under a shower BBaVJ bath and theu be rubbed down, so that i thoy would avoid stiff muscles and taking cold. i BbTbtJ Tho work cau be materially increased a iBbbTJ during the last two weeks, for thu olavcrs aro by this time in shapo to iBBaVJ stand the exercise, and that is tho pe ipBVJ riod when iraiu them tho hardest. It 'BBBJ is not until tnis time that I put them BKfJ through any hard runs, but they should now havo done enough running around in their daily workouts to havo. got BKJH their logs into condition for long runs which will perfect the wind.

'WM Long Runs StilTen Legs. I 1 I remember my own experiences in 'r 'WM this respect. "When I started as a jpH player 1 was forced to take long runs BBbtJ almost from the first of tho training soason and my logs woro soon stove up and tired, aucl by tho time the season actually opened I felt like I hud. been iipB piavmg Dan ior a yuitr uwcui. il '2 BBBBJ on that account that when I ppi became manager I adopted less sevcro training methods.

"When it comes to tho pitchers, who j. ippi are such important factor in every i. pH ball club, I behove in lotting theni train themselves. That jb, I mean the veterans who "have boon with tho club If 'Baaal and whoso work and ability I am ac- quaintcd with. I lot my pitchers do IBBJ pretty much as they ehoobo iu tho iBpBJ spring, because I think they know hovr JBpj thov feel hotter than I do aud any iBpi pitchor with experience knows what to BBJ do to get into-shape and when to start 'IbbbbI doing it.

The effectiveness of a pitch- ppj er's arm depends on the condition ol 'BH the rest of his body. If there is any- pH thing tho matter with him it will tell Bpfl on bis arm, for he will have that much i BBH less of his resources to draw ou. System Won Pennants. I think from oxporienco that this jH system is the best, it was with this pys- ppj tem that I trained tho and they won our pennants for me. i When tho YaukoeB returned from ppj Bermuda last year they were as well trained as any ball club that over weut to tho barrier, but they struck some sudden changes in tho weather when they roaohed New York and wero prac BBJ ticallv wrecked beforo the season opene'd.

I believe the methods I adopt Bpfl put a player on a keen edgo without i. pB-BJ tiring him out, and tho only chanco I A take is in the weather that prevails aBH when vro get north again. But you MBbB have to take chances in basoball as well as other things in life. I ifH I havo been asked repeatedly what I 1 ippB thiuk are the chances for the Yankoos iBpj 1 this vear. and I will say this, that ir ippj the club cots some good breaks' in tho luck and aoes not run into mishaps- wo BBfl should get into tho first division.

The BflBH Yankees are a greatly changed club bBJ from the ono I Btarted last season with. Bpfl Last 3ear "wo started with, a poor ball BBJ club and with most of the pitchers dis- ablcd in some way or other. pH Star Pitching Staff. Keatinc started good, but eoou went bad. Caldwell did not round into form until August and Warhog never Pitched pj a good game all Eeason.6chulz also had trouble with his arm.

This year it ap- Wm pears that the pitchora aw ail going to im be in good shape, in which case I will BBJ have a staff that will compare favora- blv with any in the league. BBJ Tho hitting on the club is not as BH good aa I would like to have. But wo lBJ have m3p some valuablo additions in BBJ speed, and baso running will not be a pBJ lost art with tho Yankees this yoar. This speed with the Pitchlpfir statl Bbould make up for much that the club lacks in hRting and, as I havo eaid IVaaal above, if tho club gets some good MM Baaal breaks wo will lot them all know we Wm aro in the fight and finish the first jpH divieiou. s.

1 BbbtJ Last year when Itoolc charge ot the i i club the players did not caro whether thoy won or not. But think I have pH insiilled in ttio club a fighting spirit, I and a club that fights its way along will always make things interesting, Bpj Baaal JliBBBB.
