Minthorn, we vinited the Msple Grove Stock Farm, owned by Mr. Daniel Cookaon Sons, situated a-bout 2) mibs South-east of West Branch, which contains about 240 acres of splendid rolling prarn land. The proprietors are from York County, Pennaylvania, and settled in this County bout eighteen yeurs ago. They have on tlu ir farm a neat and commodious dwolling bouitu; whuh is surrounded with beautiful evergreens and shrubbery of various kinds, which gives the reaidenc a handsome and picturesque appearance a large bank barn and rcauy other out buildings which is only useful to such extensive farmers and cattle breeder. The machinery used to work this farm i the latest improvement.

The large barn is filled with fine thorough bred Short-Lorn Durham cattle, and cannot be excelled, 'ither in beauty or quality. It was during this campaign that he contracted the disease which undermined his health, and ultimately terminated fatally. The deceased was a printer by profession, and was at one time employed in the office of this paper. He was a kind parent and a good citizon. Ocn attention was attracted yesterday by the unloading of ooal, from a Urge wagon, which evidently was brought to town from the country. Upon inquiry we learned that the coals were brought from Turnpike Station on the Wrightsviile Branch R.

11., and that the man who was hauling them could afford to have them shipped from the mines to that station, via York, load them on his wagon and deliver them to town at ona dollar per ton less than what the aaiue coal can be purchased for at York yards. It appear that the difference in rates of freight at every point east of York is so great that col can be ordered to those inta, even by wsy of our own town, and farmers can afford to haul coal in with teams and then furnish the same at one dollar less per ton than if the ooal were directed to York at once from the mines. Suoh discrimination against our town should be protested against inmiste. Rights or Railway Companies. It baa just been decided that when a railway com- cover damages in case such passengers are killed after having been ejeoted.
