BOARD PROCEEDINGS TENTH DAY MAY 3, 1971 REGULAR APRIL SESSION The Board of Supervisors met pursuant to adjournment. Present were Lawrence Newbrough, Chairman; and E. J. Kollasch, Ivan Parrott, Andrew Reising and George Weringa. Absent: none. Motion by Weringa and seconded by Kollasch that Class "B" beer permit be issued to Harold Van Allen (Van's Cafe). Ayes: all. Nays: none. Motion carried. Motion by Parrott and seconded by Kollasch thPt compromise settlement be given to the State Institution account against Nadine Forbes in amount of $900. Ayes: all. Nays: none. Motion carried. Motion by Kollasch and seconded by Reising that bid of Bert C. Ramus, LuVerne, be accepted In the amount of $500 for Lots 1-2-4-5-7-8, Blk. 3, Eggerth's Add. to LuVerne, Inc. Ayes: all. Nays: none. Motion carried. Motion by Weringa and seconded by Kollasch that bond of Lois Klooster, Clerk in the Treasurer's office, be approved. Ayes: all. Nays: none. Motion carried. Motion by Reising and seconded by Parrott that bonds and contracts be approvedfor Everds Bros., Algona; Faber Constr., Algona; and Goodwin Constr.,. Algona. Ayes: all. Nays: none. Motion carried. Motion by Kollasch and seconded by Weringa that Kossuth County issue a Q.C.D. to Vernon and Kathleen Klein for $362.50 on a tract of land in SW 1/4 Sec. 30-95-28 containing 14.5 A. Ayes: all. Nays: none. Motion carried. Motion by Parrott and seconded by Kollasch that Call State Park bridge be embargoed to 15 ton effective May 3, 1971. Ayes: all. Nays: none. Motion carried. Motion by Weringa and^sec-' onded by Reising that the following resolution be approved and adopted. For local interview write age, phone and occupation to : Packer Training Division of Southwestern College of Meat Cutters, Box 4452, Minneapciis, Minn. 55421 (22U-23A) RESOLUTION WHEREAS: The Kossuth Co.Sec. road system has 27 percent of its total mileage presently in a hard surface condlton and, WHEREAS: Very few rural residencies are more than 2 1/2 miles from a hard surfaced road and, WHEREAS: Many of the present hard surfaced roads have inadequate base thickness and, WHEREAS: Many miles of present hard surfaced roads have inadequate shoulders and, WHEREAS: It is not economically feasible to hard surface roads which carry less, than 125 vehicles a day, and, WHEREAS: It would be economically feasible to revert some of the present hard surfaced roads back to a gravel surface, particularly when these hard surfaced roads carry less than 125 vehicles a day or do not inter-connect which other hard surfaced roads. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That further additions of hard surfaced roads be rigidly limited, after fulfillment of the 1971 construction program, and, that if further additions are to be made, the feasibility of such additions be made as the result of Traffic and Needs .surveys conducted by the Iowa State Highway Commission or some other disinterested Engineering Consultant. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Board of Supervisors will seriously consider reverting present hard surfaced roads back to a gravel surface when such roads do not carry more than 125 vehicles a day or do not inter-connect with other hard surfaced roads.
