The pontiff told a congress of more than 1,000 gynecologists that he had received information on the subject and had been asked to judgment on it from the repass ligious and moral viewpoint. The method approved by the Pope calls for intensive instruction of the expectant mother in the processes of childbirth. Repeated appeals are made to her not to permit feelings of emotions, during labor specially trained personnel assist and remind her of what she has learned.

He called the report to Congress "less a State of the Union message than a state of the Republican party message." He said the message was "political in He said the President's claim that the United States maintains its lead in international affairs was "a curious statement. Va. -Virginians voted today on a proposal which would clear the way for granting public funds to send children to private schools.

The proposal is designed as an avenue of escape from the Supreme Court decision outlawing segregation in public schools. The voters marked their ballots "for" or "against" a convention which would amend the state's constitution to make such tuition grants possible. Amendment of the constitution was one of the key recommendations of Gov. Thomas B. Stanley's Commission on Public Education, which for almost a year studied ways the state might avoid enforced integration.

Under the commission's. suggested program, tuition grants would be made available to children who live in areas where public schools may be abandoned, or whose parents decline to send them to integrated schools. The other principal recommendation of the commission, composed of 32 state legislators, will come before the State Legislature when it convenes Wednesday, It calls for an "assignment plan" under which local school authorities would be empowered to assign pupils to schools on various grounds other than race. Estimates of the vote ranged upward from 400,000 to more than 500,000. There are approximately 850,000 registered voters, of which roughly 72,000 are Negroes.

Both those favoring the amendment and those against said a "for" majority was probable. Lausche Says He Will Be Available CLEVELAND UP -Gov. Frank J. Lausche says he "would be for the Democratic nomination for president, but has no present plans for seeking i it. Citizens in half a dozen states have given him encouragement to make the race, said Ohio's fiveterm governor.

He named fiveFlorida, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Indiana and Minnesota. But he said last night he "dreaded the thought of occupying the highest office" because of its burdens, is not seeking it, and "presently I have no plans of going outside Ohio." In Ohio, he is letting his name be used as a favorite son candidate. He also is running for the U.S. Senate seat now, held by Republican George Bender, and probably will have opposition in the Democratic primary. Often outspoken as an admirer of President Eisenhower, he said he hoped the President.

would regain his health and be Republican candidate again. in they that case, "if everything else was equal, I would support the Democrat" who runs against Eisenhower, he replied to a question. Monte Carlo ball in New York Friday night upset her but did not cause a quarrel. A dark-haired woman rushed up to the prince at the party and kissed him on the cheek. In New York yesterday, Senorita Graciela Levi Castillo of Ecuador identified herself as the woman who did the kissing.

She said the kiss was meant as a token of good wishes and that she had known the prince several years. "Yes. I was upset," Miss Kelly said. And I don't think that Rainier liked it either.
