JOB WORK iitta2 wilh Mat-Mat and UltpaMh at Xetc Tork price. TCT18DAT, SEPTEMBER 28, 1880. Now who responsible for this split ticket, and Mb. Koi.skbT Don't you know that If you and your fi icntls htid not for nine year resisted Rcadiustment there would to-day be but one Hancock ticket? You were told long ago you were doing a Job that would split your party. And you choee to spilt rather than readjust.

Now If you like splitting better thun readjusting you can have your Job. Were you not told that If Gov. Hoixidit chose to veto the people la the Bardocr bill be would split tbe plank be stood on and split the convention that nominated him In '77? You put IIoludat at your head and you got him to veto the people and veto I be convention that nominated him. And now you have on your hands a Job you can't You sowed the wind and now you don't like the July whirlwind. Nevertheless it will surely sink you.

And uow the county of Bland Is ablate. Capt. Newberry naturally thought that as the Flinders profesed to have laid aside their Funder garments for the campaign, It would do for him to "lay aside his Keadjuster garments" until the Presidential election vas over. But Capt. Newberry got his eyes opened to the fact that the Flinders liad uot laid aside Fuiiderlstn at all, and he saw the proof of it when they went to Abingdon and ran Into the sky the name of Trigg, a confirmed Funder for Congress.

8o Capt. Newberry will make the bills of Bland, echo with lie haj again put on his liradjustmcnt coat, and now Funderism having sown tbe wind can reap the whirlwind. wweiL.j ii. i The Funder convention at Abingdon hiving sat down ou the counsels of the HrAWDAfin It row has to try and sit down ii Niwbkrry. "Active Transitive Verbs govern the Objective case." Our would be teachers dictate for the author, "Active Transitive Verbs govern the object." It can govern the object in nothing but Case, and yet when the false reasoning of ho equum dilaniavit, is exposed, at once their bead is where their feet ought to be, In justification of prudentiam aim-ulutione atultiare iexerant. From mother Eve down to her latest son. When an error is exposed, its author shifts from one subterfuge to another, seeking for an excuse, until the "error wounded, writhes In pain, and dies amid her wor shipers." While the unfortunate author forgetting gtu'd eat in hmnine diuiniut, sinks low clown In tho filthy pool, created by his own nasty excres cences, and there strangulates and tiles in agonies, unnoticed and unciired for by all who feel themselves above the nauseating level. Yes sir, it is so even with ecclesiastical disputants; when whipped in argument, the conquered, (skunk like) begin to lilrl the revolting excrescence of personal slang, mid (bunli- whackor like) shelter under some ficti tious name. The public wants no better evidence of any oee's inability to curry on a discussion than this unmanly subterfuge.

It Is passingly strange that editor will publish such things, knowing the distaste the public bus for them, and especially knowing their demoraliz ing effects and ruinous tendency. We assert (once for all) that we shall pay no attention to personalities in this dinciiH-sion, or to any ono who violates the rules of decorum. B. F. White.

Judge Kelly and myself a part of a session in tbe Confederate Congress, hilst Washington has had more Judges, members of Congress, Governors, and Senators than one half of the counties of the District. Is it fair that one county should monopolize and engross all of the honors of the District? I have done whiUt in the Legislature of Virginia and in Congress more than any man for the poor laboring men of the State I got more positions for poor boys and fatherless young men than ail tbe members of Congress from this District for fifty years. What I have done is ominous of what I will try to do if again elected. When Gen.

Terry ran against mo (lie race, I had to pack Judge Hughes; in the next election I had to pack the lamented Geo. W. Henderlite. I withdrew in the contest with General Pride-more, upon tho grounds that a convention of laboring men, firmer and mechanics had been called to meet at ltris-tol, lo nominate a candidate ugalnst General Pridemore. It failed and I was left in tliu cold.

In he last race wilh Richmond, Newberry mid Campbell, I packed more weight and run the best race I ever ran, but Richmond got Hie sent by Improper and unjust means. I have spent more time and money in attending conventions, political, commercial and internal improvements, any man In the State. I now appeal to gentlemen of all parties, to allow Col. A. Fulkerson to run with me a single-handed race, and if I am elected or defeated, I pledge myself never again to be a candidate for Congress.

With the favorable record I made in Congress, I believe, if elected, I can do more for this District, the Southern and Western States, than any new man you may elect. There Is not a man In the Slate who feels and know tiic want of and education mote than myself. The perpetuation of our constitutional representation of Government, depends upon the virtues and intelligence of the people, and they cannot he Intelligent unless they are educated. Hence, I am for a liberal system of education for the children, both white and colored. Gentlemen, for your past confidence and support, and for your long continuance of me as your servant, agent and representative, I tender you my profound ami heartfelt tluink.

If you think that any other man can and will do more for you than I have done or can do for you. elect him, and I will cheerfully acquiesce In your decision. 'Respectfully, F. McXIULI.IN. September til It, 1SS0.
