Manager Jack Maynard announced Friday he six men in question will receive a total of 34386 in back pay The agreement followed a series of conferences Tuesday and Wednesday between Manager Maynard and Richard Udry attorney for several of the dismissed city employes The total cost to the city in settling the cases including back pay and court costs was 33986 Stanley Chrisman city solicitor said 1 Fnlolws Decisions The settlement was the result of recent decisions by the Kentucky Court of Appeals on cases of Al Trenkamp and Frank Crolley two dismissed employes who sued for restoration of their Jobs and back pay after they were discharged under a city ordinance 1 of the -employes will be returned to work July 16 Mr Maynard said They are Jake Levi helper in the Waters works Department 3125 a executive of the A Boehmer Paint Co 114 Pike street Covington Mr Boehmer who is spending his vacation in Florida became a victim of burglars for the second time Friday when his home on Hudson avenue Lakeside Park was ransacked An employe of the firm who checks the residence daily during Mr absence learned that the house had been entered when he passed there Friday He notified the office and Deputies Richard Menke and John Schroder investigated They found that the house had been ransacked but will be unable to determine the amount of loot taken until Mr Boehmer returns home Several empty giant magnet to the Blucgrass State can be attributed to the friendliness of the people Patsy McCartney or Pat Starling as Hollywood would have it received a vivid demonstration of that friendliness and affection from more than 40000 of her fellow Kentuckians when she returned to the Devou Park amphitheater Wednesday night to take part in the weekly community sing and concert Patsy graduated from the Devou Park concerts to Hollywood where she rapidly is becoming recognized as one of the more promising of the younger actresses in the movie capitaL Literally "Kidnaped" Bom in Covington in 1925 instructed Thursday night by board members to write a second letter to officials of Lakeside Park that efforts be made to prevent the seepage of sewage from Lakeside into Sunny-mede a subdivision of South Ft Mitchell The city clerk previously wrote a letter on the same matter but had not receievd a reply from Lakeside officials it was said Members of the South Ft Mitchell board pointed out that the sewage of Lakeside seeps into storm sewers in Sunnymede Mr Elliott reported also that tax collections for the year were 31158765 and that 3157089 in taxes were delinquent A letter received from to John Loepker on his bid Beuttel Muth Still Contend Matter Is New More Pay Raises Granted Under Thursday Vote Covington's housing commission met in a special meeting Thursday night at the housing offices on Madison pike and patched up its 1941-42 budget in what one member termed a whitewash session" Less than two weeks ago all members of the commission admitted in a meeting that they never had discussed or even seen the budget Thursday night three members Chairman A Knollmann William Burke and Linus Hand "remembered" they had seen the document and had passed on it without giving it a Rose funeral home Covington are in charge Cabinet Approves Hospital Leasing Federal Government Takes Institution Special to The Pott FRANKFORT July 11 Gov Keen Johnson's cabinet meeting here today approved the leasing by the state to the federal government of the Herrington Lake hospital property as a hospital for the treatment of mental diseases -The lease period is set as "for the period of the existing emergency and two years The federal government will pay the state 31 per year for use of the property The approval granted today by the cabinet was foreshadowed yesterday when an order CoL I) Dysentery Fatal To 10 in Adair Hopkins Specialist Sent to Kentucky Special to The Post WASHINGTON July The deaths of 10 children from Adair county in Kentucky all eight years of age has caused the Johns Hopkins Hospital of Baltimore to send a specialist to the area to prevent the possible spread of the epidemic it was announced by the American Red Cross here The Red Cross learned through reports from Kentucky that the disease is spreading It was described by Dewitt Smith national director of the Red Cross disaster relief as shiga dysentery a serious form of the malady The Kentucky State Health Board officials reported that 86 cases already have been reported Most of the cases were in the town of Columbia which has a population of 1400 Mr Smith said five Red Cross nurses have
