Tire Mileage On Increase AVERAGE TIRE life is steadily increasing, providing today's motorists with about 1,000 miles of tread life for each dollar invested. Jack Limbaugh of Jack's O.K. Tire Service, Algona, member of a select ten-man B.F. Goodrich southwest area dealer advisory council, said BFG officials attribute this mileage increase to the greater use of radial and bias-belted tires. The dealer advisory council, speaking for more than 2,000 BFG dealers in the company's five southwest sales zones, met recently with BFG Tire Co. officials in Houston to evaluate tire sales and merchandising methods employed in the southwest states. The advisory council, whose members are elected for two-year terms, serves to keep the company informed about dealer needs and problems. Limbaugh said BFG executives are optimistic for expanding sales of replacement tires and anticipate industry sales increases of from 5 to 6 percent during the year. According to BFG, this will make for strong competition among tire dealers and will result in better services to the tire buyer.
