Girl's Game The female basketball team of Trevorton High looked like an invincible sextet for two minutes, then the Red Amazons broke loose and piled up 34 points while the Zerbe township lassies got only three more, and, incidentally, Miss Hespenheid's championship machine won the game, 36 to 6, its second consecutive triumph. After Miss Brubaker tallied the first point, Misses Smith and Pipa dropped foul goals thru the net, but the lead was short-lived, however, when Miss Partridge scored two foul goals for Trevorton, and Trevorton was ahead, 3 to 2. After that the Red Amazons played with their old time fury, and almost without excep-rd as saying that John the greatest fighter Up 36 Points While Amazon Defense Is Impregnable Andrewlevich and Grossman Star in Boys' Victory. Trevorton High's basketeers drop-ped two games to Mount Carmel High last night on the Third and Market streets wooden way, the cherry-clad boys winning by the overwhelming score of 46 to 10, and the Red Amazons by the one-sided tally of 3 to 6.

Walt scored the first field goal for Trevorton after 17 minutes of play had elapsed. The half ended with Mount Carmel virtually sure of the game, 27 to 6. When play was resumed Mount Carmel scored ten more points before Walt broke thru with his second field goal of the night. After that the rest was easy for Mount Carmel, whose battlers ran the score up to 40 while of thot and full of pep. Mnwk ran Kk light, Sullivan never had Urop of liquor.

Trevorton went scoreless in the third quarter and Mount Carmel piled up six more points. When play was resumed in the last period the red-clad shebas were on the far end of a 24 to 4 tally, and it was only a question of how many more points they would chalk up before the game was over. In the middle of the last period Miss Partridge scored the first and only field goal for Trevorton, which speaks oodles of praise for the Amazon defense play.

Miss Smith, who shoots 'em like a regular guy, dropped the rotund plaything thru the net nine times, while her running mate, Miss Pipa, collected seven. You would have to see "Smitty" in action to appreciate her basketball shooting ability. Inside the 15-foot line she is the equal of any body in regional scholastic ranks, and that's saying SOMETHING. When a girl drops three or four, into the net while standing on the far side of the basket, then that girl's field goal ability is something to conjure with. Were she a boy, she would make any scholastic varsity with ease, yet out-score any forward in a season's play by at least 30 points.

She is a better shot than Andrewlevich, a better shot than all the hoys we have seen in the lptal cage for the last three years with the possible exception of "Dop" Miller, last year's sensation with Sunbury High's pennant winning machine. The Red Amazons will play their next game on Monday night against the Alumnae, while the Red varsity will play the Alumni. MOUNT CARMEL Shenandoah Hi By NORMAN E. BROWN The busy town of Mobile, which has been many a big league club prepped for the annual melee and has harbored a battling team in the Southern Association for many a hectic campaign, will have a new pilot for its ball club the coming season. For Duffy Lewis, one of the members of that famous old outfielding trio of Lewis, Speaker and Hooper, of the once glorious Red Sox, has been signed as manager for 1926.

Lewis goes to the Mobile team with a record as a successful pilot on the Pacific Coast, whither he wended his way when his playing days in the big league show ended with a brief career with Washington. Duffy managed the Salt Lake City club in the Pacific Coast League inr 1921-22-23 and 24 and for the latter part of 1925 campaign was boss of the Portland club. Lewis did not confine his activities to managerial ones, either. He led the coast league in batting at times and his averages for the four seasons with the salt city team were While Duffy may have lost considerable of the speed that made him a great outfielder and a fast man on the bases he still retains enough to lay fast minor league ball thanks to his baseball brains. Lewis served on the brilliant Boston teams which won the league flag in 1915, 1916 and 191S.

The war interrupted his diamond activities. When hostilities were over Lewis figured in a wholesale trade between the Red Sox and the Yanks which sent him, Dutch Leonard and Ernie Shore to the Big Town in exchange for half a dozen Yankee hopefuls and hope-lesses and some dough. Lewis served the Yanks well when they needed a steady outfiielder and a dependable hitter. Finally, however, the veteran drifted to Washington and then out of the big time. Some of Lewis' acquaintances may recall that his baseball life seemed about to be ended in a hurry the winter after he joined the Yanks.

He was wintering at his home at Boyes Springs, and decided to paint his garage. In a fall from a ladder he sustained a cut on his arm. An infection caused by the presence of paint in the cut threatened for a time to cost- him his wing. Careful treat-ment, however, saved it and his "career.
