OPENING OF SCHOOLS Supervising Principals Discuss Plans Teacners Meet This Evening Preliminary to the opening of the city public schools tomorrow, mom-In-, the 23 supervisory principals of the various buildings met yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock In the office of City Superintendent Wanner for the purpose of consulting with the principal in regards to the bt-si. methods of relieving the congestion of the several grades, which is customary to the opening of the schools, and to give final Instructions as to the distributing of books and supplies in the most rapid and accurate manner. Among the superseding Instructions placed before the principals was that of the admittance of beginners or pu pils starting to school for the first Urn. In previous years beginner have been sent to the respective school buildings for admittance any time between the opening of the school and January 1.

The new school code, wnleh now requires that all beginners must either be admitted the first two weeks of the scholastic year or wait until January 1. will be rigidly folio wexi out. By ao doing both the pupils and the teachers will be benefitted. The old way had a strong tendency to break up the regular ciasse axid class w-ttrk. Pupils entering- grades at any time either destroyed the plans for teaching or hindered the prescribed amount of work to be done by the classes.

A new pupil entering three and four weeks after the opening of the school term was required ty maJte up the work: undone. In order to do this the other attending pupils were neglected to a degree. The new plan to be Installed this year will bring all schools to smooth running basis two weeks after the opnlnjr. The age for admittance will te care fully looked after by the principals. All children who are six years at trie beginning of the school term or will be six years old on or before January 1 of the present year, will he enrolled.
