will receive the funds and will work with the Lamar County Literacy Council in implementing the project. In applying for the grant, Mrs. Betty-Kildahl, executive director of the LCHRC said the literacy council does, not have anyone over the age of 60 enrolled in its programs. The funds will be split equally between the Good Neighbor's Senior Center and the Sprint I Senior Center in Paris.

Plans are for a one-year project. Students and tutors will be recruited in April, followed by tutor training workshops at Paris Junior College in May. "We're stressing the importance of not only claiming Choctaw heritage but to list their households as Choctaw households," said Judy Allen, editor of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma's official newspaper, Bi- shinik. Filling out the census form correctly is considered essential.

She says if tribal members fill out only on the census form, they would be counted in the Mississippi tribe.
