Chief ISays TFX Version Best By JAMES CALOGERO ABOARD THE USS FORT SNELUNG The Navy today disclosed the ocean bottom discovery of what it termed an object that could have come only tram a nuclear submarine such as the missing Thresher ChpL Frank A Andrews described it as a yellow shoe cover used by Navy men in entering the reactor department ol a nuclear submarine The shoe cover bore the black stencilling SSN The initials are used by the Navy to signify nuclear submarines The search commander said it was the first evidence obtained bearing any identifiable marking lie added is encouraging
