Jocson, 74, of Lincoln died unexpectedly Friday (Sept. 3, 2010) at her home. A Mass of Christian bur- ial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Lincoln, with the Rev.

Jeffrey G. Laible of ficiating. Burial will be in Holy Nenita Cross Jocson Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Peasley Funeral Home, Lincoln, with a rosary service at 4:45 p.m.

Memorial gifts may be made to Holy Family Church or Carroll Catholic School. Nenita A. Jocson was born May 3, 1936, in the Philippines, the daughter of Juanito Antonio Arreola and Catalina Picazo BacalzO. She married Alfredo M. Jocson on June 25, 1960, in Chicago.

Her husband died Aug. 5, 2006, in Peoria. Survivors include her children, David Mark (Renee) Jocson, Normal; Laura R. (Brian) Hatfield, Maryland; Alfred John (Caroline) Jocson, Rockford; her sister, Grace Arreola Nibungco, Indiana; and a brother, John Arreola, Florida. She had eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Lynn Jocson. Mrs. Jocson retired in 1991 from the state of Illinois as a registered nurse working at the Adolf Meyer Mental Health Center in Decatur, where her late husband was medical di- Jerry Mooradian RUTLAND Jerry R. Luke czworowski Jerry officiating. Mooradian Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Minonk, with full military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Calvert Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial gifts may be made to the family. Jerry was born Feb. 27, 1944, in Clay Center, the son of Johnny R. Mooradian and Colleen M. Geiger.

He married Karen A. Stokowski on May 28, 1983, in Dana. She died May 6, 2007. Surviving are his mother, Colleen Geiger, Topeka, six children, Paul Lynn (Linda) Marler, Castle Rock, Carey (Mary), Topeka, Brandon (Suzanne), Marysville, Chad (Melinda), Meriden, Amber (Brad) Neiberger, Valley Falls, and Nicole (Brian) Mize, Nortonville, and three stepdaughters, Debra (Bill) Baumgartner, Colorado Springs, Janet (Don) Hocking, Columbus, and Linda Gibson, Greenville, S.C. He had 31 grandchildren and nine great -grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father; one daughter, Tara; and a grandson, Samuel. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Minonk; the Rutland Amer'ican Legion Post 1121; and the Ranger Regiment Association. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served 16 years and fought in the Vietnam conflict.

Jerry was a member of the 5th and 10th Special Force Units and was a staff sergeant. He received numerous awards Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Hearts and Valor awards for Army accomplishment and the Achievement Air Medal. He was a member of the Master Parachutes Halo Team with more than 1,100 jumps. He was an owner- operator of a trucking company and also worked as a truck driver for Birkey Farms Gibson City. Russ was born Feb. 28, 1933, in Philadelphia, the son of Harry and Lavone Smith Carney. He married Anita Suhr on July 3, 1982, in Bloomington. She survives. Also surviving are three children, David Carney, Ballston Spa, N.Y.; Paul Carney, Hong Kong; and Maureen (Kent) Norris, Bloomington; and two grandchildren, Sydni Norris and Chris Norris.

Russ was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He graduated from Villanova University and retired from State Farm Insurance Cos. in 1995 after 38 years. He was employed as an auto underwriter.

Russ was an avid golfer and enthusiastic sports fan. One of his greatest joys was traveling with Anita. Together, they visited more than 42 state capitals and 125 countries. Russ made friends wherever he went and he will be missed by all who Hal M. Gilmore NORMAL Hal M.

Beiler on Nov. 19, 1949, in Frankfort, Ky. She sur- vives. Also surviving are sons, John (Linda) Gilmore, Princeton, N.J.; and Paul Gilmore, New Canaan, and daughter, Martha (Bob) Whitefish Bay, Wis. He is also survived by grandchildren, Zachary and Rachel Gilmore, Andrew and Ben Gilmore, and Erika and Kirsten and by sister-in-law, Viola Gilmore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Frances; and brother, David. Hal entered Western Kentucky University at the age of 16 and graduated as his class valedictorian. He played basketball for the Hilltoppers and legendary coach Eddie Diddle, including a game in Madison Square Garden. "String Bean Baby- Face Gilmore," as one sports columnist described him, earned master's degrees from Western Kentucky and the University of Illinois, and did additional graduate work at Florida State University. Hal retired as faculty emeritus after teaching mathematics at Illinois State University for 30 years.

Hal was a gracious and compassionate man who was committed to serving others. He was blessed with deep and abiding friendships, sharing joy and laughter through the years. He walked humbly, showing respect for all; did what was just, caring for those often overlooked; and loved kindness. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Normal, for 54 years, where he served as an elder and in many other capacities. He also served as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and for Crossroads Global Handcrafts.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the McLean County Nursing Home for their wonderfully kind and I compassionate care for Hal during the last three weeks of his life, and are grateful to Dr. Witoon Weraarchakul and to Dr. Uday Deoskar for their exceptional care through the years. R. Bill Sopper BLOOMINGTON R. Bill Sopper, formerly of Bloomington, more recently of Ponte Vedra Beach, passed away at 7:35 in the evening Aug. 27, 2010, at the McGraw Center for Caring Hospice in a sonville, after a heroic battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 66.

His wife, R. Bill Sopper brother, daughters and friends were with him the week leading up to his death. Cremation is being handled by Eternity Funeral Home Crematory in Jacksonville, 904- 348-5579. His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sept.

18 at First Christian Church in Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memorial of R. Bill Sopper to McLean County Easter Seals. Born in Eureka, to Raymond Sopper and Jane Bonora, Bill grew up in Des Plaines, graduated from Maine West High School and attended Northern Illinois University, Wright Jr. College, Harper College and Roosevelt University, as well as earning his MBA from the University of Illinois in 1985.

After experience at CNA Insurance, First National Bank of Chicago, Computer Machinery Mohawk Data Sciences, Honeywell and Sears, Bill found his niche in real estate in 1975 when he began work for J.C. Ebach Realty Bloomington. In his first year he became top sales associate and second year he became the during which time he also earned his GRI. In March of 1977, Bill founded Century 21 Baumgart Sopper Inc. with two sales associates, two crates, a folding table and a phone.

He took on a partner and built their franchise to over 40 associates strong at one point, winning various state and national awards for sales and management. All the while Bill was the president, broker and CEO for Century 21 Baumgart Sopper he was also serving three separate terms as president of the Blooming -Normal Association of Realtors, several other terms in other officer positions and committees as well as four terms as director of the Bloomington -Normal Board of Realtors. He also served a term as state chairman of the Illinois Association of Realtors. His involvement was strong as a committee chair or member even when he was not serving as an officer. This man of humble beginnings was also heavily involved in the community.

He was first a Jaycee in the 1970s and went on to be the president of the Hanover Park Jaycees, Jaycees Illinois Regional vice president, State Directory BloomingtonNormal Jaycees. After cosponsoring various Jaycee Holiday events, he was then awarded the Jaycee International Senator Lifetime Achievement award. Serving as a committee member and on the Board of Directors for the McLean County Easter Seals, he also sponsored an annual Easter Seals Auction, raising over $50,000 the last six years, 1984-1990. He was a member of the Bloomington Rotary Club and served on boards and councils for a Unit 5 Tax Referendum, Wesleyan Civic Orchestra, Bloomington Unlimited, United Way and Airport Authority. In the 1990s, after selling his company, he became vice president of Recruiting and Training at In Prudential Snyder Real Estate.

He moved on to enjoy working with all agents from all firms while enjoying baseball games, road trips and golf. He had homes in Bloomington and Chicago and Ponte Vedra Beach, before permanently retiring to the Florida location. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Albert Sopper, and his daughter, Mari-Rae Sopper. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Sopper; his mother, Janie Bonora; his brother Kerry Bonora; his sister Sue DiMasi; his daughters, Stacy Sopper Lupcho and Tammy Sopper Segovia; stepson, Ed Friedman; and grandchildren, Addison Reid Lupin cho, Ashley Reese Lupcho, Maximillian Roman Segovia and Taylor Friedman. The family has made his Facebook page (Bill Sopper) a tribute to his life.
