?PAGB P6UH K0SStfTH COtM'*Y ADVANCE, '. Ten Years of Service W By ',•••• ! our Algona Ten Years Ago this Month ike Two Algona papers Made a Forward Step ' * INSTEAD OF TWO PAPERS ON ONE DAY (THURSDAY) THE ALGONA NEWSPAPERS OFFERED A TUESDAY AND A THURSDAY PAPER The "Algona Plan" We adopted what has become known as the "Algona Plan." The papers alternate taking the Tuesday and the Thursday editions annually. News is different in each paper no du, plication—hence you are offered twice-a-week new* service, as well as advertising news by Algona merchants. Wary "newspapermen over the nation, accustomed to the old time continual fighting between editors, had their tongues in their cheeks, and said, "Wait a year and see the explosion." They have waited ten years, some of them but the "Algona Plan" still works for the benefit of Algona. And from Maine to California and from Canada to the Gulf the "Algona Plan" for cooperation between two newspapers has been adopted by forward looking two-paper-town newspapermen. We are proud of the "Algona Plan." The management of each Algona newspaper knows how and why it works. We are glad we thought of it—not because of personal pride BUT BECAUSE IT HAS MEANT A BETTER ALGONA. Towns are judged by their newspapers. Algona has two of the best newspapers in Iowa, a newspaper "hot spot" of the nation. That means to outsiders that Algona is a good town —because a good town supports and develops a good newspaper.
