The Charter election took place yesterday. The following is the vote Republican ticket 4500; Bell and Breckinridge fltsiou 2500: straight Douglas 250U. Thirteen' democrats are elected to the City Council; one Independent Democrat, two Bell and Kverett men, and eight Republicans. The Republicans carry the Board of Education the Democrat carry the Board of Excise. BALTIMORE CITY ELECTION.

BALTIMORE, Oct. 10. The election for city officers took place to day. The Relormers have swept everything Mayor, City Councils, not a solitary Ainericau candidate being elected. Loss or the Profellee Mt.

Vernon. The Detroit Tribune of Tuesday, is the -fol lowing particulars of the explosion of the Mt. Vernon The Mt. Vernon left here for Buffalo on Sunday evening at 4 o'clock, with a cargo consisting ot 19,200 bushels ot corn, 488 barrels flour, and 150 bags wheat. Before leaving the river abe encountered a heavy gale, aud was compelled to lie by at Maiden all night.

The storm increasing in violence, run back for shelter in Pigeon Bay, under the Point, from whence she again got underway at 1 o'clock this morn ing.
