and Mrs. Martin Fesler when they drove through. She a thinks that the Feslers must have been in a hurry to leave the state, and that there are a lot of nice things about Indiana. She says that the crops this year are especially heavy. Dr.

Starr won first prize and Mr. Edward Mann, second. The guests were mostly relatives from out-of-town. Mrs. Bertha Philleo and her nieces, Misses Dorothy and Genevieve Humiston of Santa Ana, spent last week on motor trip to San Francisco and other northern cities, returning by way of Yosemite valley.

Mr. and Mrs. Bert L. Pryor of Los Angeles were guests over the week-end of Mr. and Mrs.

J. A. Beardsley. On Sunday they made a trip to Luring lake on the Crestline. Rolland Philleo is now stationed on the training launch Mikawe at Baltimore, Maryland, with headquarters at Washington, with the U.

S. coast and geodetic survey. Philleo will be stationed on this launch for three months' training before being sent to a larger ship. Mr. and Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. Miles Scofield and son left Saturday for Crystal Crag to spend several days. Mr. and Mrs.

Thomas Brunjes. Miss Maude Banks returned Sunday from Montana, bringing with her her sister's two daughters, whom she has adopted. Miss Banks' sister and husband and son were drowned a short time ago through breaking of a large dam in Montana. Mrs. R.

E. Worshing of Los Angeles was a guest on Thursday of last week of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Damerel. During the day they motored to San Bernardino and Patton.
