She was born Jan. 31, 1900, in Tazewell County, the daughter of Benjamin and Anna Neukomm Yentes. Survivors include many nieces and nephews. Bernice Stimeling MORTON Bernice E. Stimeling, 92, of 935E. Jefferson Morton, formerly of Brandonwood Retirement Center, Morton, died at 7:25 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 23, 1999) at Apostolic Christian Restmor Morton.

Saturday in response to calls from neighbors about lots of people going in and out of the building. Police officers observed heavy foot traffic in the neighborhood, knocked on Nicholls' door and were given permission to search the apartment. Police found one wrapped package of cocaine in the toilet, and suspect Couch used the toilet to dispose of other cocaine packages. When police attempted to talk to Couch his mouth was allegedly so stuffed with cocaine that he could not talk. Nicholls was jailed in lieu of $1,000.

Couch was jailed in lieu of $2,000. Both men will appear in court on Nov. 12. Cocaine A Bloomington man who was arrested for driving on a revoked license opened his mouth Lincoln Church of God. He was born May 15, 1910, at Wapella, a son of Edward and Mary Farris Drew.

Local survivors are one nephew, Robert Frantz, Lincoln, and one great-niece. Mr. Drew was self employed. Maybelle Grigsby LINCOLN Maybelle L. Grigsby, 78, of Lincoln died at 10:42 p.m.

Friday (Oct. 22, 1999) at St. John's Hospital, Springfield. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrad-er Funeral Home, Lincoln, John Castelein officiating.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice. She was born Feb.

8, 1921, at Lincoln, the daughter of Leonard and Lena Lawyer Foster. Survivors include one daughter, Caralee Thomas, Clinton; and several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Jesse S. Hardman HEYWORTH Jesse S.

Hard-man, 89, of 302 W. Main Hey-worth, formerly of Low Point, died at 3:55 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 23, 1999) at St. John's Hospital, Springfield.

Arrangements are pending at Mason Funeral Home, Metamora. Margaret Henning EL PASO Margaret Henning, 83, of 555 E. Clay El Paso, died at 12:12 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 23, 1999) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, El Paso.

12, 1907, at Lewistown, the daughter of George and Margaret Dudley Coney. She married Clayton C. Stimeling on June 6, 1925, at Silvis. He died Feb. 8, 1987.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. George (Shirley) Stimeling, Bloom-ington; and Dr. William (Karen) Stimeling, Holcombe, one brother, Dudley Coney, San Antonio, Texas; one half brother, Homer Fraikes, Joliet; two stepsisters, Zelma Harper, Bryant; and Rose Reinhardt, Lewistown; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one half sister, one stepsister and one daughter, Colleen Taylor. She was a member of the Morton Community United Church of Christ.

She was also a member of the Peoria Poetry Club and the Tazewell County Home Bureau. Warren Wood LeROY Warren Wood, 66, of 405 E. School LeRoy, died at 7 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 23, 1999) at his residence.

His graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy, the Rev. Brent Anderson officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy.

Memorials may be made to the LeRoy Ambulance Service or to the McLean County Cancer Center. He was born April 16, 1933, at Peoria, the son of William E. and Mildred L. Brittin Wood. He married Patricia McCosh on Sept.

21, 1957, In Angola, Ind. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Lance Wood, LeRoy; one daughter, Lucy (Ed) Waltz, LeRoy; and one sister, Marcia Walter, Gilbert, S.C. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Chelsey and Corinn Waltz, LeRoy; and a special aunt, Vivian Wood, Champaign. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Wood graduated from LeRoy H.S. in 1951 and served 4 years in the US Navy. He was a carpenter and a farm worker. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and was a model train enthusiast.

Hilda May Yentes MORTON Hilda May Yentes, 99, of 7023 N. Skyline Drive, Peoria, died at 8:45 p.m. Friday (Oct. 22, 1999) at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m.

Monday at Morton Apostolic Christian Church. Church ministers will officiate. Burial will be in Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. today at Ludwig Mortuary, Morton, and from 9 a.m.

SAUNEMIN The funeral for Robert C. Byrne 77, of Toluca, formerly of Saunemin, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Harris-Martin-Bui ke Funeral Home, Pontiac, the Rev. Allan Byrne officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyslope Cemetery, Saunemin.

Visitation will be to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the fuTTeral home. He died at 8:15 a.m. Friday (Oct. 23, 1999) at St.

Mary's Hospital, Streator. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Cancer Treatment Center, Streator. Mr. Byrne was born May 17, 1922, in Pontiac, a son of Ira C.

and VeraR. Rittenhouse Byrne. He married Josephine Ethel Akers. He later married Rose Doll Uuiphress on July 14, 1979, at Strcatpr. She died Oct.

Slffiyivors include three sons, Rowrt (Sandy) Byrne New Haven, and Richard and Steven Byrne, both of Pontiac; fow-daughters, Joyce (Kevin) Ruth (Chip) Venell, Maine; Vera (Tom) Morales, Severn, Marianne (Don) Bailey, Bakersfield, stepsons, Don (Nancy) Umphress and Neil (Dena) Umphress, both of Rutland; one stepdaughter, Diana (Lowell) Bellamy, Huntsville, Texas; three brothers, David Byrne, Whitewater, John Byrne, Roanoke; and the Rev. Allan Byrne, Whitewater, 18 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruth, in infancy. He was educated in Saunemin schools and was a 1941 graduate of Saunemin High School.

He had farmed until 1961 in the Saunemin and Griswold area, and from 1961 to 1974 he worked at American Screen in Chatsworth. Ho was employed at Interlake Steel Co. in Pontiac from 1974 to 1988. Margo Diamond FAIRBURY Margo A. Runyon Diamond, 43, of Ramsey, N.J., fomerly of Fairbury, died at 5:30 p.m.

Thursday (Oct. 21, 1999) at Valley View Hospital, Ridgewood, following a brief illness. funeral was Friday at Congregational Sons of Israel Synagogue, Suffern, N.Y. Burial was in Beth El Cemetery, Paramus, N.J. Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Fairbury, was in charge of local arrangements.

A memorial fund has been established in her name to Synagogue-Congregational Sons of Israel, in care of Ira Diamond. Mrs. Diamond was born Sept. 11, 1956, in Fairbury, a daughter of Dulbert "Sam" and Phyllis Thompson Runyon. She married Ira Diamond on Sept.

7, 1980, in Fort Wayne, Jnd. He survives. Also surviving are her parents in Fairbury; two sons, Matthew and Aaron Diamond, at home; one sister, Gail (Rick) Norman, Hudson; and two brothers, Mark (Julie) Runyon, Fairbury; and Scott (Suzanne) Runyon, Pontiac. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. Mrs.

Diamond was a 1974 graduate of Fairbury-Cropsey High School and a graduate of Parkland Community College, Champaign. She was a systems analyst for Simon Schuster Publishers in New York and a member of Congregational Sons of Israel Synagogue, Suffern. Charles 0. Drew LINCOLN Charles O. Drew, 89, of Lincoln, formerly of Atlanta, died at 9:30 p.m.

Friday (Oct. 22, 1999) at his residence. His graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Atlanta Cemetery. The Rev.

Mark Schaefer will officiate. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at Quiram Funeral Home, Atlanta. Memorials may be made to the SCHOLARSHIPS! Graves Marjorie M. Graves, 82, of Normal, formerly of 804 W. Market Bloomington, died at 12:21 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 23, 1999) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

Her funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Beck Memorial Home. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation. Mrs.

Graves was born Aug. 13, 1917, in Barnard, S.D., a daughter of Ora and Crissie Pearl Bell Van-degraft. She married Eldred G. Graves on Feb. 4, 1940, in Indiana.

He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Suzann (Harry) Lane, Bloomington; and Marcia Jean (William) Guthrie, Bloomington; one son, David Lee (Diane) Graves Tampa, one sister, Esther Michael, Ottawa; and one brother, Andrew (Dodie) Vandegraft, Normal; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one greatgrandchild. She was a member of Park United Methodist Church and was a self-employed beauty shop operator. Iris Murphy The funeral of Iris Maxine Murphy, 68, of 232 Magnolia Drive, Bloomington, will be at 1 p.m.

Tuesday at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington. A memorial Mass will be held Tuesday at 5 p.m. at St. Robert Bel-larmine Newman Center, Normal, the Rev. Fritz Voegele offici ating.

Burial rjs will be in Park Hill Cemetery, MurPhV Bloomington. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the memorial home. She died at 11:45 a.m.

27, 1931, in Wapella, a daughter of Floyd B. and Ilene Hutchinson Cook. She married Robert "Bob" Murphy on May 19, 1947 in Clinton. He survives. Other survivors include one son, Robert L.

(Evelyn) Murphy of Bloomington; three daughters, Evelyn (Leon) Lang, Gibson City; Phyllis (Paul) Gastineau, Bloomington; and Carol (Dave) Paternoster, Bloomington; one brother, Don Cook, Winter Haven, and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Patrick, James and Ryan Murphy; and Lora Welch. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Connie Murphy; and two brothers. Mrs. Murphy was a member of St.

Mary's Church and was a retired factory worker at the Eureka Company. She was a good mother to all and volunteered at Clare House and St. Mary's Church. Lyle Woosley Lyle Woosley, 79, of 1103 S. Madison, Bloomington died at 3:52 p.m.

Dale Wilborn, 37, of the 2100 block of East Empire Street was arrested Friday night in the 600 block of Seminary Street for driving with a revoked license. When police searched Wilborn at the jail, they found three rocks of crack cocaine in his mouth. Wilborn was jailed in lieu of $200 on the cocaine charge and was given a $1,000 personal recognizance bond for driving on a revoked license. He will appear in court Nov. 12.

Theft A Bloomington woman and Chicago man were both charged with theft for allegedly stealing a computer from a Bloomington hotel room on Oct. 20. Crystal Sexton, 19, of the 2400 block of East Washington Street, and Ronald Dotson, 28, of Chicago, allegedly stole an IBM Thinkpad computer, owned by State Farm Insurance from the hotel room of a State Farm employee. Both people supposedly worked for the cleaning service contracted to clean guest rooms at the hotel, located in the 500 block of Brock Drive. Sexton was jailed in lieu of $100.

She will appear in court Nov. 12. Dotson was also charged with obstruction of justice for allegedly lying to police about his name and date of birth when police tried to arrest him. Dotson was jailed in lieu of $1,000. He is also wanted on warrants from the Illinois Department of Corrections and the state of Missouri, for which he is being held without bond.

He will appear in court Nov. 12. the investigation. But he said it was unlikely anyone would be charged Saturday. Meanwhile, Rush said he and his family are filled with "overwhelming grief." He said speaking publicly about his son's death was the most difficult task of his career.

"My family wants all of America to know how thankful, how appreciative my family is to all the outpourings of support," he said Saturday. That support has included Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, whose job Rush sought last November, and the Rev. Jesse Jackson. Family friends say Rich was named after Huey Newton, Rush's friend and fellow Black Panther. He had been training to be a beautician and is survived by a fiancee and a 3-year-old daughter, according to officials at Rush's office.

His funeral service was scheduled for Thursday. Education VFW scholarships John H. Kraus Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 454 and its ladies auxiliary are sponsoring three scholarship opportunities for junior high and high school students in public, private, parochial, and home study schools. Prizes are awarded on the local, district, state and national levels of each program. The Voice of Democracy scholarship contest is for students in ninth, 10th, 11th or 12th grades.

Those entering must submit an audio essay on, "America's Role for the Next Century." The local deadline for entries is Nov. 1. The Young American Creative Patriotic Art contest is open to students in ninth through 12th grades. Deadline is Dec. 1.

Entries for the Youth Essay, with the theme, "How Should We Honor America's Veterans?" for students in seventh and eighth grades, must be submitted by Dec. 15. Bobby Rush, though they have yet to call anyone a suspect. Huey Rich, 29, died at 12:59 p.m. Friday at Christ Hospital and Medical Center in the Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn, four days after he was shot. Police say Rich was talking with some friends Monday night outside his South Side Chicago home when they were approached by two men pretending to be police officers. One of them shot Rich in the groin and thigh and then fled in a car, police said.

Police have said they do not believe the shooting was random. Rich, who used his mother's last name, underwent more than 10 hours of surgery Tuesday. His graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Steenbergen Cemetery, rural Mount Pulaski, the Rev. Howard White officiating. There will be no visitation. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Cornland Christian Church or to Williamsville United Methodist Church. He was born Jan. 28, 1907, at Lake Fork, a son of Henry C. and Hazel Ingram Litterly. He married Gladys DeFrees on July 31, 1935, at Lincoln.

She died Sept. 30, 1993. Survivors include one son, Henry "Bud" (Joanne)' Litterly, Elkhart; one daughter, Gladys (David) Knox, Williamsville; seven grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren. His parents and one brother preceded him in death. Kenneth A.
