JOHN DENVER THE MUPPETS A Christinas Together BREAKING UP: "IT'S NOT YOU. IT'S At Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Jason and she said, "Oh, could you drop me off at my friend's house? We're going clubbing, and I don't think you're the type of guy to do that." He wasn't thrilled to hear this. When somebody tells you they don't think you're the type to like something, that bothers you. Especially when they don't know you, and they're already judging what type you are' and what you'd enjoy doing. Lee: I learned this the hard way: Don 't say anything bad about a date to anyone at school.

In the school atmosphere, stuff travels fast and a lot of times comes back worse than it started. I went out with this girl who was shy, so my comments after the date were: "She didn't talk a lot. She didn't show me her personality." But, going through school, it got contorted, and it got back to her that I said she had no personality, that she was the boringest person I'd ever met. So that was pretty bad. Cindy: And don 't compare me to your ex.

That makes me feel second best. It's me." Cindy: They're saying the reason they're dumping you is because of them, and it's nothing you did.

But it's such a line. You still get all your confidence shot down. Kyle: If you say that, what you're really trying to do is get the girl to think you're making an effort not to hurt her feelings. When really the person that's breaking up is not very concerned about the girl he just doesn't want her to go around badmouthing him and calling him a jerk to her friends. Stacy: I don't think it's always a line.

Sometimes people aren't ready to be that serious, and they're just letting you know that, so you shouldn't blame yourself or let your self-confidence falter because of the breakup. Cindy: Depends on the guy. If they break up with you and start going out with some other girl seriously, then you know they were lying! STARTING UP: MISTAKES THAT HURT Cindy: This guy I know went out to dinner with a girl they didn't know each other that well and it was about 9 p.m., Lee When it was first released some 20 years ago, John Denver The Muppets: A Christmas Together became an instant holiday classic. YOU TOT HAVE TO SAY, "I LOVE YOU" Recently in this column, a boy commented: "If a girl says, 7 love there 's only one response if you don 't want to lose her, and that 's 7 love you too whether you feel that strongly about her or not." A teenager in North Carolina had another kind of experience: I have been involved with a guy lately, and I told him one night that I loved him. He said, "I really like you a lot, but I'm not sure if I love you yet." I totally respected him for telling me the truth and I didn't break up with him. I think that proves something.
