Women's ByDAVEBROWN Assistant Sports Editor The Penn State women aoccer dub yesterday charged ttie Unlveraity with sex discrimination in an official Title IX com- plaint filed a formal complaint with the Office of Civil Rights in the Department of Education which is a federal agency in Philadelphia" said coach Tim Conley charge the University has violated the dvil rights of the women athletes at the University and the basis of it is sex discrimination based on Title IX which prohibits sex discrimination in any federally assisted The soccer club found out this week it had been rejected for vanity status for the second time in two yean which was the reason for the complaint according to Conley Athletic Director Joe Paterno said the only reason the women were denied vanity status was lack of like to be able to give them varsity Paterno told The Times last night just have that kind of money in the procesa of reviewing the entire athletic program It will be hard to maintain the programs State High coming off a strong showing in the District 6 tourney suffered close losses by Norm Fedon (119) and Guy Amato (128) en route to a three-to-seven effort Soph Scott Pifer (105) senior Scott Gnatt (155) and defending state champion Eric Brugei 167) were State High's victors lone wrestler 112-pounder Tom Workman lost a close decision to once-beaten Ron Holman of Erie Academy to fall into
