CENTRAL ILLINOIS Lavina Abels MINONK- Lavina M. Abels, 88, of Meadows Mennonite Home, Meadows, formerly of Minonk, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 29, 2001) at her residence. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m.

Monday at Folkers Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk, the Rev. Loretta Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Minonk Township Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Meadows Mennonite Home or a charity of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Abels was born Oct. 18, 1913, in Minonk, the daughter of John and Alessa Devon Schmillen. She married Gerhard Abels on July 26, 1932, in New Ulm, Minn. He died in October 1964.

Survivors include one daughter, Margery (Robert) Rients, El Paso; two sisters, Leota Volinkaty, Lafayette, and Bernice Baumann, Minonk; and a half-sister, Charlene Dixon, Peoria. Also surviving are two grandsons, Eric (Kristy) Janssen and Todd (Lynette) Janssen, both of Minonk; three stepgrandchildren, Susan Rients, Robbie (Mary) Rients and Greg (Ann) Rients; Zach three great dren, Janssen, Tyler Janssen and Abby Janssen; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Dirk Rients, Seth Rients and Sammie DeRosa. Mrs. Abels was a member of the Minonk Presbyterian Church. Lavina was a very caring person and will be missed by all her family.

Myrtle Boyd MOUNT PULASKI Myrtle Irene Boyd, 81, of Mount Pulaski, died at 11:21 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 29, 2001) at Vonderlieth Living Center, Mount Pulaski. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert- Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski, with Bill Shanle officiating.

Burial will be in Kline Cemetery, rural Broadwell. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Myrtle Boyd Memorials may be made to Parkinsons Foundation. She was born Sept.

26, 1920, Spaulding, the daughter of Leslie and Teanie Judy Ridgeway. She married Orville W. Cooley on June 13, 1952. He died in 1970. She later married Dale Boyd on May 19, 1973, at Springfield.

He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Nancy Cooley Vonnahmen, Springfield; and Janice (Jeffrey) Holzworth, Taylorville; one stepson, Danny (Nancy) Boyd, Osage Beach, two stepdaughters, Rita (Leonard) Remmert, Henderson, and Lana (Bart) Miller, Lincoln; one brother, Charles (Ruth) Ridgeway, Broadwell; three sisters, Betty Butler, Mount Pulaski; and Wilma Brown and June Butler, both of Lincoln; two grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. 22, 1933, at Lincoln, the son of Clarence E. and Bernice Boon Dial. Froidcoeur, 64, of Melvin, died at 7:10 p.m. Friday (Dec. 28, 2001) at his home in rural Melvin. His memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St.

Peter's Lutheran Church, Melvin, the Rev. Heidi Punt officiating. Burial will be in Melvin Cemetery, Melvin. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City.

Memorials may be made to Gibson Area Hospital. Mr. Froidcoeur was born Nov. 16, 1937, at Bartonville, the son of Albert F. and Edna R.

Tholen Froidcoeur. He married Jane E. Schuler on Jan. 11, 1958, at Ashkum. She survives.

Other: survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Randy) Meyer, Sibley; two sons, Eric (Tami) Froidcoeur, Champaign; and Paul (Beth) Froidcoeur, Minooka; four sisters, Deanne Van Martre, Houston, Texas; Deloris Coates, Redman, Delma Humiston, Pendleton, and Denise Mikulski, New Lenox; and his mother, Edna Froidcoeur, Danforth. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jessica, Caleb, Alexis, Abigail and Emilie Froidcoeur. Mr. Froidcoeur was a farmer for many years. He held his Real Estate license and was a former member of the Ford County Board and Peach Orchard Township Board.

He was a member of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Melvin. He also was active in the Sibley Lake restoration project.

He was born March 20, 1927, at Streator, the son of Harry and Clare Kennedy Hart. He married Charlotte Pollett on June 14, 1969, at Streator. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Lynn Hart and Tammy (Ronald) Sievers, both of Streator; and Rhonda (Robert) Konkel, South Barrington; one son, Randy (Denise) Hart, Streator; one sister, Carol (Jim) Logsdon, Fort Lauderdale, and six grandchildren. His parents and one granddaughter preceded him in death.

He served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater in Guam. He retired from Smith Douglas-Borden Chemical in 1981 where he served as production manager and also from Burns Security in 1988. He resided in Streator all of his life. He attended L-P-O Junior College from 1947 to 1948 and the Utilities Engineering Institute in Chicago in 1949. He was a member of the Streator Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge 591, where he served as Exalted Ruler in 1985 to 1986; the Leslie G.

Woods American Legion Post 217; Streator Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492; and Lazy Acres Sportsman Club. Norm was a very loving, giving husband, father, grandfather especially and friend. He will be greatly missed by all of Walter Knollenberg LINCOLN Walter H. Knollenberg, 78, of Lincoln, died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday (Dec.

Other survivors include two sons, James (Sherrie) Puckett, Rock Hill, S.C.; and Douglas (Bonnie) Puckett, Manito; one daughter, Donna (Curt) Howard, Manito; one sister, Virginia Link, St. Louis, Mo; 12 grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. Pete Remmert EL PASO Pete Remmert, 67, of 350 W. Jefferson El Paso, died at 7:36 p.m. Friday (Dec. 28, 2001) in the emergency room of BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. A private family memorial service will be held, with the Rev.

Box 194, El Paso, IL 61738. Mr. Remmert was born Sept. 11, 1934, at Panola Township, Woodford County, the son of Edwin and Berdena Thompson Remmert. He married Patricia Martino on Nov.

22, 1961, at Minonk. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Lynne (B.) Gilbert, Congerville; and Denise Armstrong, El Paso; and one sister, Betty (Jim) Wilkey, Secor. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Holly and Matthew Armstrong; and Grayson and Macy Gilbert. His parents and one sister preceded him in death.

He was a graduate of El Paso High School; a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Secor; and a charter member of the Secor Sportsmans Club. He was a former member of the Secor Village Board and the Secor Fire Department; and served as Palestine Township trustee, Palestine Township clerk and Palestine Township supervisor. He was a member of the El Paso Masonic Lodge, Bloomington Scottish Rite Temple and the Mohammed Temple Shrine, Peoria. He was a former member of the Woodford County Board of Review; an associate member of the Illinois Sheriff's Association; and the Fraternal Order of State Police.

He served as president of the Woodford County Young Republicans; was the executive director of the Illinois Young Republicans; and was awarded the outstanding Young Republican Award in Illinois. He served as Palestine Township Republican Precinct Committeeman for 28 years and as the Republican Party chairman of Woodford County for 26 years. He served as secretary, treasurer and for 10 years as president of the Illinois Republican County Chairman Association. He was a member of Governor Richard Ogilvie and Governor Jim Thompson Advisory Board and was an alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1980. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Amateur Trap Shooters Association.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving the Guided Missile Battalion in Northern Italy. He was a member of the El Paso American Legion and the El Paso VFW. He was retired from the State of Illinois, having served as superintendent of Property Control Division, Division of Vehicles and the Property Management Division. Marie Sapien McLEAN The funeral of Alta Marie Sapien, 71, of McLean, will be 2 p.m. today at the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, McLean.

Schaefer, 89, of Tremont, died at 6:50 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 29, 2001) at Apostolic Christian Restmor Morton. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Apostolic Christian Church, Tremont, with church ministers officiating.

Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Tremont. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Davis Mortuary, Tremont. Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Restmor Building Fund. She was born Feb.

11, 1912, at Eureka, the daughter of Daniel and Magdalena Hamm Hartter. She married Ernest R. Schaefer on June 2, 1940, at Goodfield. He died on Aug. 28, 1987.

Survivors include two sons, Maurice (Marge) Schaefer, Tremont; and Ernest (Sharon) Schaefer, Rochester, four daughters, Josephine Schaefer, Tremont; Karen Martin, Northville, Linda (Roger) Ziegenhorn, Olathe, and Kathy (Jerry) Zuercher, Tremont; one brother, Richard (Verna) Hartter, Eureka; one sister, Corrine Hartter, Eureka; 18 grandchildren; and 15-great-grandchildren. One brother and five sisters preceded her in death. She had been employed by the Tremont School District and the First National Bank of Tremont. Robert Windus STREATOR J. Robert Windus, 84, of Belhaven, N.C., formerly of Ancona, died at 5:30 a.m. Friday (Dec. 28, 2001) at Pungo District Hospital, Belhaven. His funeral will be at 11 a.m.

Thursday at Winterrowd-Hagi Funeral Home, Streator. Burial will be in Ancona Cemetery, Ancona. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

He was born June 11, 1917, at Streator, the son of Christopher and Clara Gingher Windus. He married Helen Quandt on May 3, 1947. She died Sept. 12, 1991. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (James) Sotirakis, Las Vegas, and Bobbie Ann (Warner) McAdam, Columbia, three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

His parents preceded him in death. BLOOMINGTON- -NORMAL Jose Bucio BLOOMINGTON Jose Bucio, 29, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Bloomington, died Dec. 23, 2001 in Charlotte, N.C. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Monday at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. He will later be buried in Mexico. He was born Nov. 14, 1972, the son of Amado Bucio and Theresa Pineda. Survivors include his father of Chicago; one sister, Martha Bucio, Bloomington; and five brothers, Antonio and Jose M.

Bucio, both of Bloomington; Martin and Felipe Bucio, both of Chicago; and Miguel Bucio of Mexico. His mother preceded him in death. Hinthorn died at 11:26 a.m. Friday (Dec. 28, 2001) at Springfield Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. He was born Aug. 16, 1918, at Normal, the son of Harold Crum and Virginia Kirchner Hinthorn.

He married Shirley K. Snook on March 23, 1943, at Eastland, Texas. She survives. Other survivors include one sister, Marilyn Ogan, Springfield, and one brother, Keith Hinthorn, Normal. Also surviving are three grandchildren.

Kathy Hinthorn, Normal; Chris Hinthorn, Bloomington; and Amy (Paul) Momola, Bloomington. His parents and one son, Richard, preceded him in death. Mr. Hinthorn was a self-employed mason contractor. He attended Normal Community High School and was one of the original Ironman.

He was an Army veteran of World War II. He attended Wesley Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Eagles Club and the American Legion Louis E. Davis Post 56. Vernon loved his cats and dogs and enjoyed playing cards.

Arrangements are pending at Carmody-Flynn-Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington. Minnie Prater BLOOMINGTON Minnie Prater, 101, of 510 Broadway, Normal, formerly of 202 W. Locust Bloomington, died 9:05 p.m. Friday 28, 2001) at Manor Care, Her graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at East Lawn Cemetery, Bloomington, Denny Mallory officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Minnie at Beck Memorial Home, Prater Bloomington. She was born Oct. 11, 1900, at Ava, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Cameron Amos. She married Noel Strait on May 17, 1917.

She later married McKinley Prater on May 17, 1926. He died Dec. 8, 1961. Survivors include one son, Charles (Charlotte) Strait, Springhill, four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nine great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters and one grandchild.
