3, MORTON F. "Larry" Knollenberg, 72, of 302 Car parents, and a brother, Robert E. Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a janitor at Lincoln Jr.

High School, Lincoln, for 20 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a former member of church council at St. John Lutheran Church. He had been very active with the youth in Lin-' coin and had coached both basket-' ball and baseball in Lincoln for many years. Bloomington-Normal 1925, at Cooksville, a daughter of James and Lena McClellan Herman.

She married Clarence A. "Barney" Evans on Nov. 24, 1946, at Cooksville. He died June 29, 1996. Also surviving are two sons, Thomas (Laurie) Evans, DOWNS Mary (Kendall) Griffith, 91, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Downs, died May 21, 1998 at the Springmoor Health Center, Raleigh.

There will be a private burial. Visitation will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. June 7, 1998, at the Dysart-Co-foid Funeral Chapel, Granville. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Clear Creek Preservation Council, P.O. Box 146, McNabb, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Griffith was born Feb. 23, 1907, in Downs, a daughter of Rose and Thomas Kendall. She married Walter G. Griffith on March 1, 1930.

Survivors include a son D. Kendall (Susan) Griffith; a daughter, Robin (Til) Glisson; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Griffith; five grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her son, Lynn. Raymond Heitzman Richard Dean Price, Onarga; and Dale (Susan) Eugene Price, Oregon, two daughters, Kelly Elizabeth Price, Dixon; and Kimberly Ann (Kent) Youngs, Gilman; two brothers, Wayne (Mildred) Hen-richs, Danforth; and Durrell Hen-richs, Gilman. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Emily Price, Heith Price, Kira Youngs and Kyle Youngs.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Price spent her childhood in Danforth where she attended Danforth Grade School and graduated from Gilman High School in 1954. She was employed for 23 years as a dietary assistant at Prairieview Lutheran Home, Danforth. Mrs.

Price's husband is under sheriff for Iroquois County. Madelyn C. Stauffer SAYBROOK Madelyn C. Stauffer, 53, of 814 W. Harrison, Saybrook died at 2:50 p.m.

Mrs. Birks was born June 19, 1904, in Emden, a daughter of George W. and Birdie Adele Perry Mowry. She married Jesse B. Birks in August 1927 in Decatur.

He died in December 1973. Survivors include one daughter, Sue Ackley, San Ramon, Calif, and Spirit Lake; one son, Jess M. Birks, Tustin, four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Her parents and two sisters, Ruth Minch and Helen Scafidi, preceded her in death. Mrs.

Birks graduated with a BA from Milikin University, Decatur, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Sorority and their alumni chapters in Decatur and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a former organist for the Decatur and Cedar Rapids Episcopal churches. In Cedar Rapids, she was a member of the Book Club, the International Relations Club and the Civil War Roundtable Participants. She was a member of the Spirit Lake Episcopal Church. Renee M.

Mr. Knollenberg was born Nov. 12, 1925, at New Holland, a son of Fred and Minnie Lohrenz Knollenberg. He married Agnes "Lu" Hum on March 25, 1950, at Lincoln. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Marsha Beal and Pam Knollenberg both of East Peoria; and a brother, Alvin Knollenberg Boynton Beach, Fla. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Kevin, Jennifer and Jamie Beal of East Peoria, and many nieces and He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Danny Knollenberg. Mr. Knollenberg was employed as a foreman at Caterpillar East Peoria. He retired in December 1982 after 40 years of service.

She was the township supervisor for Blue Mound Township and was member of Union Church of Cooksville. Henry Gaydosh LINCOLN Henry Gaydosh, 95, of Lincoln died at 6:10 a.m. Saturday (May 30, 1998) at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St.

John United Church of Christ, Lincoln, the Rev. Richard Reinwald officiating. Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Holland Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ, Lincoln. Mr. Gaydosh was born June 10, 1902, in Hungary, a son of Andrew and Rosa Lengyel Gaydosh. He married Marie H.

Ramlow on June 6, 1931, at Vandalia. She died Sept. 22, 1984. Survivors include a daughter, Norma (Roy) Schoppa, Riverside, and a son, Dan (Laura) Gaydosh, Crystal Lake; and six greatgrandchildren. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Chris (Cathy) Schoppa, Sunnyvale, Joel Schoppa, Redondo Beach, Lauri (Rich) Huntington, Dana Point, Andrea Schoppa, Sunnyvale, and Karen (Russ) Robinson, Bullhead City, and many loving friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Olga and Gizella; and two brothers, Andrew and Rudolph. Mr. Gaydosh's family arrived in the Lincoln area in 1908 where he was a farmer until his retirement in 1974. He was a life-long member of St. John United Church of Christ, Lincoln, and served in various church positions at the church.

He died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (May 28, 1998) at BroMenn Health Care Center, Bloomington. Memorials may be made to Eureka Presbyterian Church or to Trinity Medical Center Cancer Research Program, 2701 17th Rock Island. He was born April 26, 1923, at San Jose, a son of John Adolph and Eleanor Kramer Heitzman. He married Leona Marie Till on Oct.

6, 1945 at the U.S. Naval Air Station Chapel, DeLand Fla. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Robert (Vicki) Heitzman, Washington; three daughters, Joyce Skelton Thorpe, Bloomington; Peggy (Robert) Meyer, Elmhurst; and Nancy (Jeff) Glass, Rock Island; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Mr. Heitzman attended Lincoln College, Lincoln, before enlisting in the U.S. Navy Reserve. While in the Navy he continued his education by attending University of Georgia, University of Tennessee and Martin and Murry State Kentucky. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served as a Naval Aviator.

He was a lifelong farmer in San Jose and Eureka where he practiced soil conservation and land preservation. In 1985 he received the Woodford County SWCD Outstanding Operator award. Mr. Heitzman was a founding member of the Logan County Swine Association, a member of the Angus Association and a lifelong member of the Farm Bureau. He also served on the San Jose School Board, was a real estate agent, plant manager for Monsanto Ag.

Center in Eureka and was a sales representative for Eyegate Media. Mr. Heitzman was an active member of the Eureka Presbyterian Church where he participated in many leadership roles. Earl R. Jiles CLINTON Earl R.

Jiles, 84, of Clinton died at 12:20 a.m. Saturday (May 30, 1998) at his residence. Arrangements are incomplete at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. Richard Mick officiating. Mrs.

Lower was born July 21, 1913, at Bloomington, a daughter of Fred and Loretta Bowen. She married Charles Phillips in Bloomington. Survivors include one son, Tom (Bonnie) Phillips, Hilton Head, S.C and two sisters, Idelle Small; of Eureka, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Eureka Apostolic Christian Church, church ministers officiating. Burial will be in Roanoke Apostolic Christian Cemetery, rural Roanoke.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Otto-Argo Funeral Home, Eureka, and one hour before the funeral at the church. He died at 1:34 p.m. Friday (May 29, 1998) at the Fairview Haven, Fairbury. Mr.

Wenger was born May 18, 1915, in Fairbury, a son of Edward and Anna Peter Wenger. He married Ida Schlupp on Aug. 31, 1941, in Roanoke. She died March 13, 1991. Survivors include four sisters, Aldine Wackerle and Laura Wenger, Forrest; Wilma Fischer, Roanoke; and Edna Wiegand, Saunemin.

Also surviving are 14 nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Raymond Wenger and Albert Wenger, preceded him in death. Mr. Wenger was a World War II Army veteran. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Eureka Apostolic Christian Church, Eureka.

James E. Wilson LINCOLN James E. Wilson. 61, of Lincoln died at 4:20 a.m. Saturday (May 30, 1998) at St.

Clara's Manor, Lincoln. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hartsburg, the Rev. Robert Schacht officiating.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 (Jp.m. Monday at Holland Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Hartsburg.

Mr. Wilson was born March 27, 1937, at Lincoln, a son of William J. and Helen M. Gracheck Wilson. He married Elnora Newby on Feb.

10, 1961. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, James Wilson, Lincoln; and Richard Wilson, Lovington; and one daughter, Crystal Wilson, Lincoln. Also surviving is a granddaughter, Sami Wilson, Mahomet. He was preceded in death by his 1160 W.

Mayberry, Hemette, 92343; and Mary Hednck, 817 E. Grove Bloomington. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Robin (Chris) Belton, Mendham, N.J.; and Justin Eureka, and for Renee one hour prior Dwyer to the funeral at Eureka Nazarene. A story appears on Page A10. She died Thursday (May 28, 1998) in an automobile accident.

Memorials may be made to a trust fund at the Heartland Bank in Eureka for Jordan Dwyer. Ms. Dwyer was born Nov. 19, 1974, at Peoria, the daughter of Curtis W. Missey and Barbara Zimmerman.

Survivors include her mother of Urbana; a daughter, Jordan Dwyer, Huntingdon, a brother, Jeremy Missey, Urbana; a sister, Tammy Missey, Urbana; her grandfather, Arthur Zimmerman, Secor; and her fiancee, Herb Seals, Huntingdon, Tenn. Ms. Dwyer was a member of Eureka Nazarene. Cleo J. Evans COOKSVILLE Cleo J.

Evans, 72, of Cooksville died at 5:35 a.m. Saturday (May 30, 1998) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Blooming-ton. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Union Church of Cooksville.

Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax, Charles Phillips, Bluffton. S.C: two great-grandchildren, Kristin and Kylie Belton, Mendham; and a close friend, Nancy Phillips, Mor ristown, N.J. Accident leaves 1 critical Two cars ran into other head-; on on a blacktop road two miles east of Downs Saturday night. Violations bring 117 citations The second week of a state police enforcement effort resulted in 117 citations for motorists who apparently overlooked a variety of traffic laws in District 6.

The Special Traffic Enforcement Program resulted in 80 speeding tickets, 28 seat belt violations and a variety of offenses during the week that ended Friday. Another 53 warning tickets were written to motorists. District 6 troopers cover McLean, Livingston and DeWitt counties. A federal Department of Transportation grant funds increased patrols in areas targeted for a high volume of traffic offenses and accidents. State police districts across Illinois have participated in increased safety measures as part of Buckle Up America and other national awareness campaigns.

DOWNS A Downs woman was in critical condition Saturday after a two-vehicle accident two miles east of Downs. According to police reports, Sarah Turner, 16, of Bloomington was heading east on Thomas Craft Road near the intersection of McLean County Road 200 East about 6 p.m. when she swerved to avoid hitting a rabbit. Turner oversteered her vehicle into the westbound lane and into the path of Helen Hood, 74, of Downs. The vehicles collided head-on.

Turner and Hood were taken to OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington. At press time. Hood was in critical condition and Turner was still being treated at St. Joseph.

Jason Stephen, 16, of Bloomington, a passenger in Turner's car, was treated at St. Joseph and released. Turner has been charged with illegal lane usage.
