10 KINGSPORT TIMES Wednesday August 22 1973 WHO GETS WHAT FROM COMMUNITY CHEST Tension Strain Continued From Page 1 AREA DEATH NOTICES Community Chest agencies and affiliated organizations their 1973-74 budget and the amount of change from last years budget are: Watching the President speak yesterday there is considerable speculation that the President is under considerable strain and pressure a reporter told Warren How would you describe his mental state at this time? Warren replied that the New Orleans situation was difficult and serious -But he added the President was very pleased with the reception at the VFW convention and very pleased with the response to his remarks from the delegates As to his frame of mind today its one he feels he is out here to work Its time to get moving and to get on with the essential business of the nation In the area of the economy foreign policy and the energy situation so I would leave it at that Over the last few months the President has been called upon to devote a certain amount of time to various speeches and statements that he has made (on Watergate) I think that is obvious Warren said As for Ziegler and the President Warren said: I can assure you their relationship is a good one We were dealing with a confused situation yesterday he explained I repeat the relationship is a good one the matter is over It is not a matter to be concerned with The President was to go in one way and the press the other day price tag of $38 billion The governor said his program will also remove road construction from the political arena The construction dollar will be distributed on a fair and equitable basis by road systems within develop- ment districts he said The State Department of Transportation will coor-dinate the activities with that of our local governments and the citizens of each of nine development districts in selecting priorities for improvements tax and to insure route continuity Dunn added that with inflation the price estimate could double by the 1990 completion date He also said that $28 billion was needed to simply bring the present roads system to adequate standards Although travel is projected to increase by some 116 per cent over the next 20 years he said this system only necessitates a six per cent increase in system mileage during the same period We are not therefore attempting to pave the countryside only to provide an adequate system to meet the demands that will be placed on it While the governor of- fered no specific financing method he said We are going to have to raise taxes at some point He was asked if he planned to push the program with next years budget and replied Its premature to say to you what I think we can do AFTER CHURCH CHICKEN and DUMPLINGS SUNDAY SPECIAL Fieldcfest "Fragrance" terry tovels COUNTRY FRIED STEAK and GRAVY Baked Alaska
