"I just redirected it.

That's all I had to do." USC held that 1-0 lead at the half, and Ring preserved the advantage with another reflex save 4:10 into the second half. Myllenberg then put the Gamecocks up 2-0 with a rip just under the crossbar from 12 yards out. "Joey took on his defender, then crossed the ball, and it deflected off their defender to me," Myllenberg said. "It was a good job by Joey on the flank. It was his goal.

I had the easy part." fired up and ready to play. "As always, they were extremely well-coached. They threw some things at us today that we had not seen," he said. "It's an important win for our team." Much of the victory, which improved USC to 11-3 can be credited to sophomore goalkeeper Henry Ring, who made six saves. "Credit Henry with a big portion of this win once again," Berson said.

"That's what you need to have from a good goalkeeper is big saves at critical times, and that's why Henry's a big-time goalkeeper." Ring came up huge just 4:35 into the match when Jon Mabee broke free from the defense for a one-on-one in the box. Ring came off the goalline and denied Mabee with a reaction save to keep the game scoreless. Nine minutes later, Charlotte goalkeeper John McDonough made a brilliant save on a rip from John Harr, tipping the ball over the crossbar. But USC got on the board at the 15:02 mark when Nathan Watkins finished a cross from Scott Campagna. Jonas Myllenberg started the play with a crafty ball to Campagna on the right corner.

The juntor defender then drove a cross to the front post, where Watkins flicked a header past McDonough for a 1-0 lead. "Credit Henry (Ring) with a big portion of this win once again. That's what you need to have from a good goalkeeper is big saves at critical times, and that's why Henry's a big-time goalkeeper." MARK BERSON.
