Heads January 1 3 Class at Manual High School WORK TO BE PUSHED ON SHOPS AT ELKHART Three Million Dollar Improvement Said to Have Started Real Estate Boom That the proposed new Lake Shorehops at Elkhart Ind will he ready for Occupancy bv September 1914 and that another larger appropriation of money will be made shortly by the management to rush the work toward completion is the statement attributed to an Elkhart Lake Shore official connected with the me chanical department of the rood Accompanying this statement it is pre dicted that the repair blacksmith and foundry work of the I and the Iz will be done in the Elkhart shops as well as the work of the Lake Shore proper It is estimated that this work will mean the employment of from 500 to 800 more men The foundations for the big shop buildings are partly completed and the structural steel framework of the power house soon will be in place A large force of men now Is engaged in this work The new shops with full equipment will cost approximately 83000000 according to the engineers' estimates Real estate In the neighborhood of the new shops is fringing Increased prices it is said and a boom in realty and building lines is negotiations With separate railroads and to unite all the mechanical trades so that concerted action might be taken when wage demands were male Demands would be made on all railroads in the same who formerly was general foreman of bridges has been pro moted to assistant supervisor of bridges and building and Andrews ma sonry foreman has been promoted to the position of general foreman Newcastle Ind for 19000 The deed for the property was placed on record yesterday This is the second pur chase of real estate In Indianapolis by Mr Beard On eb 1 he acquired title to a dwelling at the Trade Association Underwriting Plan Disposes of 57 of 100 Pledged to Be Placed Next Tuesday noon has been set as the time for closing the active selling cam paign for Mars Hill lots and it is be lieved that the various interests now at work will dispose of the requWed number of lots by that time The plan of under writing lot subscriptions la being followed by the Trade Association directors and Secretary Leroy Snyder now has ready for the Mars Hill committee sales of fifty seven lots These have been under written by fifteen Of the Trade Associa tion directors and it is believed that the Pay for Auto 1 The Indianapolis Traction and Terminal Company was ordered yesterday by the Board of Public Works to pave between its tracks on Pennsylvania street from Washington street to Sixteenth street and on Sixteenth street from Pennsylvania street to Talbott avenue Accompanying the order was a statement that the city expected to improve the street and It was desired that all the work be 'done simul ta neously The board addressed another communi cation to the street car company asking what It expects to do in regard to is tracks on Morris street which must be changed before the street can be Im proved The hoard ordered the street commis sioner to build foment sidewalks on South street and on Thirty eighth street in front of the new engine houses The railroad was ordered to construct a crossing over its tracks at Burgess avenue a now thoroughfare Tim board declined to pay for an au tomobile purchased for the street com missioner's department until the automo bile company
