For more details phone: 0942 829200. 6 SATURDAY TELEVISION FEBRUARY 22 TODAY'S HIGHLIGHTS Richard Bruton Outstanding Recommended Fine Cut The Forgotten Men BBC2: 7.30 9.00 .00 pm In World War II many Czech airmen flew with the RAF; more than 500 were killed and those who survived were treated as heroes only until the communist coup of 1948, which branded them as friends of the West, possibly spies. In Otto Olejar's moving documentary, old men at last receive the recognition they deserve. TV Heaven C4: 8.00 11.10 pm Observant viewers will have noted that Frank Muir's presentation of past delights has no BBC archive treasures because they won't let them be shown in this series, which should perhaps be called ITV Heaven. So tonight's 1974 offerings can include LWT's Thick as Thieves (8.05) by Ian La Frenais and Dick Clement but not Porridge, their hugely successful BBC series that year.

The writers wanted to develop the Thick as Thieves character of Dobbs (Bob Hoskins) but LWT weren't interested so they went to the BBC to give birth to Porridge. The situation in Thick as Thieves is that Dobbs gets early release from prison and finds that his wife (Pat Ashton) has been joined in domestic bliss by his best pal (John Thaw). Thaw also appears (8.55) in Ian Kennedy Martin's Regan, beginning the Flying Squad partnership with Dennis Waterman that continued with The Sweeney Tonight's third item (10.35) is a This Week edition on the National Front's activities before the General Election in October 1974. Jessica Fletcher, a crime-story writer who does so much detecting she must be at her desk all night, returns for a new series with Angela Lansbury in the role nobody else could play. Wherever Jessica goes, mayhem is sure to follow and this time it's her cousin Ann's wedding in Texas where the groom leaves the bride in the lurch for the very good reason that he has been murdered.

The first episode in a four-part very expensive production based on a very long novel by Noel Barber with screenplay by Denise Morgan, It- stars Jason Connery as Chris Masters, dedicated doctor and Oxford boxing Blue who, shortly before World War II, accidentally kills one of Mosley's Blackshirts and is persuaded to pursue his career on a South Sea island where beautiful women, cholera and hostile Japanese are going to keep him pretty busy With Richard Wilson, Hywel Bennett, Josephine Byrnes and Vivien Tan.
