police officers Mardis was seen to throw a large rock through one of the post office building windows on the Mill St side and was followed by a post office employe while another em ploye telephoned cranked with no artificial light Disney Studios will sell six cartoons with the Melton View inder for considerably less than $10 The little machine makes the appeal of ready made or self made 8 mm films much greater It is the hope of the Associated Agency corporation to obtain from each of the communities having a chamber of commerce in Nevada a group of 8 mm film taken by both amatures and professionals from which to make a six reel scenic film of the state "Scenic which can be sold in this state to residents and tourists along with the view finder At the start With the one injec tion moulding machine working about 25 men will be employed all of them skilled and when the addi tional moulds have been received another 75 might be added to the payroll The machines are sold ob Reno and local stores that have seen the working model in opera tion have been quick to place an iously turned out by hand by Charles Melton of Reno who now has the patent pending on the ma chine Associated Agency corporation of Reno has the exclusive selling rights to the Melton Viewer The device is said to be the first viewer on the market that shows pictures in motion without the benefit of any light other than either day light or an ordinary electric bulb neither of which of course is a part of the machine They can be produced in Reno at the rate of about 2000 a day with one machine and already there are two additional machines on order Made entirely of plastic with but two metal springs the likelihood of the war retarding their manufac ture is small because the complete machine weighs little more than three ounces The Inventor Charles Melton the inventor of the Melton Viewer was a musician in a local night club when he con ceived the idea of a viewer that would enable anyone owning an 8mm camera to see his film without benefit of a projector The same ma chine makes an excellent editor for motion pictures and the simplicity of the mechanism was what ap pealed to those retailers who to date have placed orders for a re ported 200000 of the machines Melton took his working plans to the Associated Agency corporation and they financed its development taking in return the exclusive sales contract on the product Local bus iness men seeing the working model became interested in its manufac ture and a corporation was formed all the stock being absorbed by the manufacturers and none of it be ing placed on the market With the hand made working models sales men went to the motion picture capitol and the Disney studios ex pressed immediate interest rom there without benefit of advertis ing or publicity the success of the little machine has been phenom enal Children Are Treated At Hospital Loss 'of two rings valued at $7 900 was reported to police late Monday evening Dr Elmer Ball of Los Angeles told Reno police his mother Mrs rank Ball lost a platinum set three carat diamond ring and a yel low gold two carat diamond ring while residing in a downtown hotel last week during the California In dian skeet matches Mrs Ball told investigating of ficers of the Reno detective bureau she placed the rings in tissue paper and put them under the bed Helen McBride petitioned to move a residence from 1100 ourth St to 728 Quincy St Lawrence Bernasconi asked to move a garage from 515 LaRue St to 1026 irst St William Horace Mayhew 73 was killed about 2:45 yesterday after noon when the Cadillac he was driving plunged over a 350 foot grade 17 miles west of Reno on Highway 40 Mr Mayhew who was the oper ator of a summer cabin at Lake Tahoe was alone in the car' and is believed to have died instantly in the crash which occurred near loriston The automobile went all the way to the bottom of the ravine The accident was discovered by passers by who noticed the guard rail broken and stopped to investi gate Constable Tom Dolley of Truckee was notified and was in charge of recovering the body Mr Dolley said last night that he had ordered an autopsy boilermaker ended speed ily in district court today as he pleaded guilty to second degree murder and was sentenced from 10 to 20 years in the state prison Silvey entered the guijty plea before District Judge Clark Guild who imposed sentence immediately Silvey had been accused of the fatal shooting in allon on March 19 of Mrs Lila Marie Mahnen 45 year old Korea war widow follow ing a quarrel He tried unsuccessfully to end his own life by shooting himself in the head but he recovered after treatment in Reno and allon hos pitals The guilty plea came after the Churchill county district attor
