J. Moran, Gabbs, Nevada, was awarded the distinguished flying cross by Admiral H.ilsey after he had shot down a Jap bomber 40 miles from the aircraft carrier Hornet on which he was a fighter pilot His squadron won the air medai for its achievements. Lieut. Moran now Is serving as an instructor in Florida. He attended University of Nevada and after joining the navy won his wings at Corpus Christi in December, 1941.

PHIL H. GRIJALVA, ship's cook first class, formerly of Reno, who joined the navy in January, 1942, has a son, ALBERT, In the army, stationed at Hamilton Field, Calif. Phil Gnlalva, whose home now is San Jose, attended Reno high school and his mother, Mrs. Clara Grijalva, resides at 319 West Fourth street, this city. His wife, Mrs.

Gladys Brault Gnialva and their daughter, 11, reside in San Jose. ALFRED CHARLES SCILACCI, seaman second class, Lovelock, who enlisted Juno 26, 1942 is on duty in the Atlantic area EDWIN VERNON SCILACCI, seaman second class, who in March, 1943, is serving in the Pacific area. Another brother, JOSEPH FRANCIS SCILACCI, private in the aimy? who enlisted November 12, 1942, also is on duty in the Paficic area. ARTHUR M. SMITH, who enlisted in September, 1942, and is a i navy i school, and ROBERT EDGAR SMITH, seaman second class, enlisted in July, 1943, are sons of Mr and Mrs.

HAROLD THOMAS VAN TASSEL, aviation mctalsmith, Reno, enlisted January 29, 1942, after graduation from Reno high school and working for the Southern Pacific in Reno His brother, WILLIAM V. VAN TASSEL, is at- i the New York Naval Reserve Midshipman school following graduation 1943 from Umver- city of Nevada where he was a member of the Lambda Chi fraternity. They are the sons of Mr and Mrs.

William Van Tassel, 439 Washington street, Reno. Army Officer Has Sons in Uniform; One in the Navy JOHN RAYMOND GENT, 308 College Court, Rjjno, who is taking the navy V-12 course at the University of Colorado, having entered the naval reserve in the fall of 1942, is the son of Lieut. Col. and Mrs. William F.

Gent, now at Salt Lake City, while his brother, PVT. WILLIAM ROBERT GENT, is stationed at Patterson Field, Fair-field, Ohio. John Raymond Gent is a graduate of Reno high school and spent throe years at the University of Nevada, is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, and was active in track and football. LEWIS STODDARD CONNOLLY, aviation machinist's mate second class, son of Mrs. F.

A. Denton, 109 llth street, Sparks, enlisted in the navj at Los Angeles, in September, 1942, and is on active duty. He attended high school Portland, Ore and Sacramento, and California Junior College. His brother, RICHARD FARRELL DENTON, entered the army air force in June, 1943 After graduation from Sacramento high school he attended -junior college at Bakersfirld, Calif. He was an honor student at the Curtis- Wright plant at Glendale, Calif.

HAROLD P. DAYTON, who is taking the navy V-12 course at Univoisity ot California, Berkeley, and JOHN B. DAYTON, who entered West Point as a cadet July 1, are sons of Mr. and Mrs. H.

P. Dayton, 747 Humboldt street, Reno Both men are graduates of Reno high school. Harold Dayton studied electrical engineering and worked for a time with the army engineers. John Dayton attended University of California for a year and during vacations worked for the Armanko store, this city. PAUL JOSEPH SALEMI, radioman second class, enlisted in the navy Fob 22, 1943 and is attending radio school at Northwestern University He attended Reno schools and was employed at the Lake street pharmacy.

His brother, TECH. SOT. JOSEPH SALEMI, entered the army in April, 1941. HP attended school in San Jose, a i and was employed by the Silver State bakery, this city. They aie sons of Mrs.
