a a THE BOSCOBEL DIAL, April 27, 1989 Page 3 805 Obituaries Norbert W. Schmidt Norbert W. Schmidt, 83, Boscobel, died Sunday, April 23, 1989, at the Boscobel Memorial Nursing Home. He had resided in the Wauzeka area for a number of years, had farmed, and was employed many years by American Motors in Kenosha. Son of Peter and Catherine (Scheckel) Schmidt, he was born in Spring Brook, Dec.
20, 1905. Surviving are four sons, Ronald of Boscobel, Richard of Racine, Gregory and John, both of Placentia, two daughters, Mrs. Wilson (Donna) Colbert of Ramona, and Mrs. Marsha Anderson of Kenosha; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m.
today (Thursday) at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Eastman, with Fr. Raymond Wagner officiating. Burial will be made in the church cemetery. Friends were to call at the Thoni and Kendall Funeral Home after 6 p.m.
Wednesday. Mollie Shattuck Mollie Shattuck, 89, of Boscobel, formerly of Blue River, died Saturday, April 22, 1989, at Boscobel Memorial Hospital. She and her late husband, Joseph, once operated a drug store at Blue River. Their only son, Robert, was killed in action while serving in the U.S. Navy at Pearl Harbor and the Shattuck American Legion Post at Blue River is named for him.
Daughter of Allen and Ella (Tisdale) Jones, she was born in Richland County Feb. 3, 1900. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Shattuck, and son Robert. Her only survivors are nieces and nephews. Services were held Tuesday at the Thoni and Kendall' Funeral Home, with Rev.
Ernest Lofton officiating. Burial was made i in the Blue River Cemetery, with graveside military rites: conducted by members of the Robert Shattuck American Legion Post No. 443 of Blue River. Casketbearers were Harold Freymiller, Jack Kinney. Jim Weadge, Verlin Harris, Theron Faulkner Jr.
and William Bloyer. James J. Sobek James J. Sobek, 80, who resided at Gazebo Apts. in Boscobel, died Wednesday, April 1 19, 1989, at Boscobel Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
He was a retired area farmer. Son of Charles and Lorna (Chitwood) Sobek, he was born in Eagle Richland County, April 15, 1909. He married Evelyn Crowley May 4, 1936, at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn of Boscobel; two daughters, Mrs.
Daniel (Shirley) Breunig of Sauk City and Mrs. James (Phyllis) Stickler of Zanesville, Ohio; a granddaughter; two sisters, Mrs. Josephine McKnight of Fort Pleasant, W.V., and Mrs. Georgia Childs of Gays Mills. Services were held Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Boscobel, with Fr.
Bernard Meloy officiating. Burial was made in Boscobel Cemetery, with the Thoni and Kendall Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Burl Fish, Dale Heisz, William Fillbach, Ronald Sobeck, Kenneth Childs and Jack Miklasz. Lloyd L. Faust Memorial services for Lloyd L.
Faust, a age 80, of Boscobel, who died Wednesday, April 19, 1989, at Boscobel Memorial Hospital, were held Wednesday, April 26, at the Beeman Funeral Home in Boscobel, with Rev. Merle Knutson officiating. Burial was made in Woodlawn Cemetery at Oelwein, with military rites by the Oelwein VFW and American Legion. Casket bearers were grandchildren, Robert, Bill and Michael Faust, Edward and Roger Schroeder and Steven Grapes. Son of Bert and Edith (Kennedy) Faust, he was born in Oelwein, Aug.
25, 1908. He married Carrie Curtis, who preceded him in death. He had Best Wishes Aunt Cheri and Uncle Jim Love, Chase and Kyle engagement Max and Doris Dempsey, Fennimore, along with Ronald and Marie James, rural Livingston, announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their children, Jacquelyn Anh Attend baptismal for Lyght infant Scott Eric Lyght, son of Gil and Dixie Lyght of DeForest, was baptized on March 26 at St. John's Catholic Church in Waunakee. Sponsors were Deanna and Tom Adams and Lana and Larry McVay.
Grandparents are Clifford and Lois Lyght, Marilyn Kinder and Howard Kinder. Phone 375-5752 Dempsey and Russell John James. Jackie is a 1983 graduate of Fennimore High School. She graduated in 1987 from UW-La Crosse with a bachelor science degree in management. She is presently employed as personnel director for STS Services, in Reno, Nevada. Rusty is a 1982 graduate of Iowa Grant High School, and a 1987 graduate of Southwest Wisconsin Technical College with a degree in marketing.
He is self employed with IT's General Store in Reno. Their wedding date is set for June 24 at the Fennimore United Methodist Church with a reception at the Cottonwood Supper Club, Fennimore. Anita L. Martin Anita Louise Martin, 47, Boscobel, died Sunday, April 23, 1989, at Boscobel Memorial Hospital after a courageous fight with cancer for many years. She was born Sept.
9, 1941. She was adopted as an infant by Edward and Louise (Schmidt) Laird Sr. in Beloit. She married Arnold Martin on Aug. 17, 1957 in Beloit and they moved to the Boscobel area in 1972.
She worked in the dietary department at the Boscobel Hospital and Nursing Home for several years. She later became self-employed as the operator of "Cakes by Anita." She was a member of Hickory Grove Lutheran Church and was supported by several other Bible study groups. She is. survived by 'her husband, Arnold, a son, Randy (Brenda) of Boscobel; three daughters, Cindy Parish of Boscobel, Penny of Madison, and Jody, at home, and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents and a brother.
Visitation was held Tuesday night at the Thoni and Kendall Funeral Home. Funeral's services were to be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hickory Grove Lutheran Church in Homer with Rev. Daniel Doan officiating. Burial was to be made in the Gays Mills Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Roland Martin, Marvin Martin, Jim Bushelle, Roger Nelson, Robert Crosby, and Tom Lahey. LaVerne F. La Verne F. Miller, 80, 1410 Wisconsin Boscobel, died Sunday, April 23, at Boscobel Memorial Hospital after an illness. He had farmed in the area for many years and was employed for 20 years by the Boscobel Cemetery Assn.
Son of George and Melissa (Brown) Miller, he was born in Boscobel July 4, 1908. He married Rose Copus Nov. 10, 1951, in Boscobel. Surviving are his wife, Rose; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Mary) Updike and Mrs.
Donald (Judy) Geyer, both of Monroe, and Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Blanchard of Boscobel; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Betty Smith of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Bonnie Heins of Fennimore and Mrs. Paul (Sharon) Heins of Browntown; a stepson, Raymond Van Natta of Loves Park, two sisters, Mrs.
Esther Dickens of Platteville and Miss Loretta Miller of Milwaukee, and eight grandchildren. Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Thoni and Kendall Funeral Home, with Pastor Ernest Lofton officiating. Casketbearers were Jeff and Scott Updike, Dennis and Brian Miller, Robert Geyer and Paul Heins. Burial was made in the Boscobel Cemetery.
Judith K. David Judith K. David, 48, Prairie du Chien, died Monday, April 24, 1989, at La Crosse Lutheran Hospital. She was employed for many years at Advance Transformer in Boscobel. Daughter of Clarence and Ella (Fisher) Benoy, she was born in Prairie du Chien Feb.
20, 1941. Survivors include her husband, Donald David of Prairie du Chien; five sons; a daughter; her parents; seven grandchildren; four brothers and six sisters. Services were scheduled for 11 a.m. today (Thursday) at the Garrity Funeral Home in Prairie du Chien, with Rev. Gary Grindeland officiating.
Burial will be made in the Prairie du Chien Cemetery. Friends were to call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday. of thanks Holly Laufenberg and Brian Bodenstein announce their engagement and approaching marriage. Nora Stenner of Fennimore were married in Waukesha on May 6, 1939, and have lived in Los Angeles most of their married life. Delos worked in a foundry for many years and due to poor health is retired. They both enjoy having friends and relatives make their stay at their home whenever they are in California and most of all they also like to receive letters and hear from their friends in Wisconsin. Their address: Delos and Nora Eustice, 1470, Helwig Norwalk, 90650. owned and operated a gasoline service station and was a Navy veteran.
He had resided in Boscobel since 1980. He was a member of the Oelwein VFW and American Legion. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Bob (Betty) Baum of Boscobel; a son, Lloyd J. (Jack) Faust and wife Betty of Fountain Valley, 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and a special Oladean Jarrett of Prairie du Chien.
He was also preceded in death by daughter, Beverly Howell, and a son, Charles Faust. Elnora M. Arenson Elnora M. Arneson, 83, of Poteau, died Monday, April 1989, in Oklahoma. She had resided in the Boscobel area for many years.
Daughter of Jonas and Minnie (Haskins) Smith, she was born in Crawford County April 20, 1905. She married Gordon Arneson Sept. 25, 1926. He died June 15, 1983. Services will be held at 11 a.m.
Friday at the Thoni and Kendall Funeral Home, with Pastor Paul Andersen officiating. Burial will be made in Haney Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday. Survivors include eight sons: Gordon Jr.
of Royal, Virgil and LeRoy of Charleston, Arthur and Marilyn Pitzer Pitzers observe 25th anniversary Arthur and Marilyn Pitzer of rural Wauzeka will observe their 25th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, April 25. An open house is being planned at their, home in Wauzeka on Saturday, April 29, from 1 p.m. into the evening. All friends and relatives are invited to stop in and visit. The event is being hosted by their children, Ed, Denise, Danny, Andy, Jenny, Janice and Janine, all of Wauzeka, and Marcia (Daniel) Mezera of Prairie du Chien.

James Clark Relatives here have received word of the death of James Clark, 42, of Pocahontas, on Sunday, April 23. Jim was a former resident of Boscobel, and the son of. James and Harriet (Shipley) Clark. Among those who attended the funeral services at Pocahontas Tuesday were a brother, Dr. Larry Clark and family, Mr.

Merwin Raymond J. Merwin, 85, of LaFarge, died Friday, April 21, 1989, at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua. A native of To Grandma Culver Thank you for all the beautiful clothes you made for us. We Love You, Austen, Kyle and Ashleigh MR. AND MRS.
Lisa Ann Huehne of Platteville became the bride of Alan J. Errthum of Boscobel in a wedding ceremony Saturday, April 22, at 1:30 p.m. at Lutheran Church of Peace in Platteville. The Rev. David Hoyme officiated.
Parents of the couple are Ron and Dorothy Huehne of Lancaster and Virginia Errthum of Boscobel. Boscobel. Ann Case of Lancaster was the bride's maid of honor. Larry Errthum of Boscobel was best man. Other attendants were Boscobel, he was a former tavern owner and livestock buyer, and had farmed for 35 years.
Son of William and Bell (Sabin) Merwin, he was born in Boscobel March 18, 1904, and grew up in this area. He married Pearl Bristol in 1929 and they lived in the Boscobel area before moving to LaFarge. She preceded him in death. He was a tavern owner for about 20 years, first at North Bear, near LaFarge, and later at the Town Tap in LaFarge. He lived in Florida and Phoenix, for five years in each locality, and returned two years ago, to LaFarge.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Munn of Glendale, two grandchildren; two dchildren; three brothers, Robert and Virgil, both of Boscobel, and Joe of Woodman, and two sisters, Irene Kimball and Fern Field, both of Morrow Bay, Calif. He was also preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers. Visitation was held Monday at the Seland Funeral Home in LaFarge, with burial to be made later in Phoenix. Jacob Stussy Jacob "Jake" Stussy, 77, Gays Mills, died Saturday, April 22, 1989, at Sannes Skogdalen in Soldiers Grove. He was born May 2, 1911, in Gays Mills to John P.
and Roina (Knoble) Stussy. He farmed in the Gays Mills area. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Gays Mills. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Howard (Mertie) Bowen, Gays Mills, Martha Blum of Neillsville, and Mary Tainter of Moses Lake, two brothers, Peter and Carl Stussy, both of Gays Mills.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at BeemanPatchak Funeral Home in Gays Mills, with Pastor Ted Sieck officiating. Burial was made in the Gays Mills Cemetery. Belva Martin Belva Wright Martin, 83, of Fennimore, died Thursday, April 20, 1989, at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Center, where she had resided since 1984.

A reception and dance for 300 guests was held following the wedding at the Boulder Lounge in Arthur. in Arthur. The newlyweds will be at home at 2977 Baker Ford Road, Platteville, where the groom is engaged in farming. Fennimore for 10 years.
Prior to that she and her late husband, Virgil, farmed in the Fennimore area. Daughter of Ernest and Minnie (Ball) Oates, she was born in Little Grant Twp. Sept. 17, 1905. She married Virgil Wright in August of 1924.
He died April 18, 1970. She married Otto "Red" Martin in 1974. He died in 1979. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. James (Phyllis) Adametz of Highland, Mrs.
Gerald (Betty) Batton of Livingston, and Mrs. Art (Ruth) Crubel of Bloomington; two sons, Lloyd more and Ronald of Lancaster; 31 grandchildren, and a Mrs. Ernest (Sylvia) Webster of Gilman. Bernard J. Kovars Funeral services were held Friday, April 21, at St.
Paul's Catholic Church in Evansville for Bernard J. Kovars, 70, of. Evansville, who died Tuesday, April 18, 1989, at the VA Hospital in Madison. Mr. Kovars, a former Boscobel resident, was an employe of the Kroger store in Boscobel some years ago and also worked for Kroger's at Platteville, Dodgeville, Portage and Evansville.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and had worked as an electrician in Evansville. of Kovars, Frank he and was born Margaret in (Kligora) Boscobel Aug. 14, 1918. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Evansville Golf Assn. Surviving are his wife, Marian; a daughter, Mrs.
Howard (Diane) Walmer of Evansville; three grandchildren, and a sister, Marcella Kuchar of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Harold. Mabel Molldrem broke hip in fall Mabel Molldrem fell in the kitchen at her home in Boscobel Tuesday afternoon, breaking a hip. She was undergoing surgery at Memorial Hospital on Wednesday morning, according to her husband, Bernard. Happy 16th "RED" I want to all my friends, relatives and co-workers for the many cards, flowers, gifts, calls of concern to my family, and for all the prayers that were answered.
To Pastor Andersen for his visits; to Drs. Stanley, Harrison, T.J. Donavon, Dibble and the nurses at St. Mary's Hospital for the excellent care I received. A special thanks to my family for helping my husband the 12 days I was gone.
Also thanks to Dr. Mueller. God bless you all. Jackie Beattie I wish to thank my family, friends, neighbors and relatives for their prayers, cards, visits, flowers, calls and food while I was hospitalized and at home. A special thanks to the Blue River Rescue Squad for their ful help.
