at the St rancis hospital this morning the number of fatalities resulting from the wreck on the Denver Rio Grande yesterday morning was increased to 10 None of the numbering close to two score in the local hospitals is believ ed to be in a critical condition Engineer Iessig driver of the head engine hauling the north bound train whose passengers alone suffered death or serious injury disappeared lay in the deep ditch east of the track and the heat of the unquenched fires in the engine boxes wasted their de structive force on the grass and weeds The distance between the engines and the combination car in which dead and wounded lay was sufficient to re move all danger of fire otherwise many of the victims of the wreck helplessly entangled in the tuins of the car would probably have been caught by the flames before they could bo extricated Tho loss to the Denver' Rio Grande Railway company aside from the claims for death will amount to about $75000 Traffic was resumed within a few hours after the accident ginemen to meet death The wreck occurred within sight of his home and his wife who was standing in the doorway watching the train go by witnessed the accident She was
