express safe 1 was covered and did not see that 1 could do anything and so I returned to tha USED NUMBERS "I heard the men calling to themselves" continued Gaptaln Mauney "They ued numbers and not natne-s There were seven called hut I only Raw five One man wus on one sldo of the train holding the erew and passengers back while another was on the other side doing similar duty There was no attempt made to rob any one nor was unv one hurt The plneo was admit ably- -suited to the purpose for the bapks previ nted any of the passengers from getting away from the train without being seen After the two explosions in the express ears the yeggmt-n disappeared as If by mugic As quickly as I could I reported to hea In talking of the men Captain Mauncy wus able to describe two with some degree of exactness One was short and heavy built weighing about 160 pounds with sandy reddish hair while the other was over six feet and very stoop-shouldered The tall man talked with a rasping Northern accent Captain Mauney was of tho opinion that the man who held him up and forced him to return to his car was a countryman Inexperienced in the business The one who did the Safe-blowing hovv-ever was something of an expert although he appeared to know ltttie about the use of explosives as It took him quite a while to get the small safe open and he refused to try at all on the larger one that contained something like 65000 THE ROBBERS It was believed that several of the gang were natives of the Gainesville locality although the rest were evidently strangers It was suggested that Ed Wilson a notorious crook of who only finisher out a term In the penitentiary several weeks ago might bo the leader of the gang Others fixed up "Red" Leary and "Slink" Morgan as the moving spirits of the enterprise while others suggested Harvey Logan The names of Shaw Bennett and Gregory were mentioned all of whom are loose upon the public and are known to be in this general locality Immediately aftpr the hold-up the Southern Hallway and the Southern Express Company rushed its special agents to the scene and every effort is being made to apprehend tho robbers The authorities up and down the line were notified including Charlotte and the general belief is prevalent that the men will bo rounded up The section around White Sulphur Is well-settled and covered with telephone lines If the men 100k to the country some or all of them will be apprehended without fall If they managed to slip into Atlanta the task will be harder EXPRESS MESSENGER TALKS The express ear robbed completed Mr Mann promptly asked for the reading of the committee amendments The amendments struck from the Senate bill all the French spoliation claims The matter stricken out had already been read once Mr Mann Insisted upon the parliamentary right to have it read again The amendments covered seventy pages When the clerk finished reading the amendments Representative Prince of Illinois chairman of the committee on claims took the floor to discuss the bill He read an extract from President message urging Congress to pay claims that had been acted upon favorably' by the Court of claims In conclusion Mr Prince declared amid applause that Congress should either ca'rry out the decision of the court of claims or abolish that tribunal At this point Representative Carlin of Virginia attempted to get before the House a motion to limit general- debate on the bill Some of the Democrats demanded an opportunity to vote separately on the French spoliation claims The filibuster continued Into the evening and at 8:15 the House directed the arrest of absentees the time being spent In fun-making story telling and singing while awaiting the arrival of a auobum A quorum was finally secured shortly before 10 Mr Clayton of Alabama one of the Democratic leaders In favor of the bill sought to have the House instruct the committee on rules to bring In by next Monday a special rule for immediate consideration of the omnibus claims bill and for Us Continuous consideration until disposed of This was a crucial move in the fight The chair overruled the motion and Mr Clayton BREAKS DOWN ELLOTIOX GOES OVER EYES CURED The diagnosis of disease is the first and really most important step in the successful treatment of any trouble In other words first find the source or cause and then use the remedy most naturally and scientifically suited to the condition We do not believe there is any 'disease in which improper treat- ment is more often used than in Catarrh So many persons treat the symptoms without giving thought to the causes which produce these symptoms and the result is that Catarrh is considered incurable -by a great many simply because local treatment has failed to accom- plish the desired result Every symptom of Catarrh points to impure Hood we are sure a short analysis of the disease and its symptoms will convince any one -that this statement is true First we have irritated and inflamed mucous membranes of the head nose and throat from which there is a constant and copious discharge of watery matter This comes from inflammation of these mucous surfaces and is caused by catarrhal matters and impurities in the circulation Nature intends that these membranes shall all be nourished by the blood and so long as this vital fluid is pure it satisfactorily performs this necessary work but waste matters and impurities deposited into these delicate parts sets up inflammation and the discharge is a natural result When this secre tion begins to dry it assumes thicker proportions and becomes sticky-then it adheres to the throat and upper back portion of the mouthy causing the and straining so troublesome to Catarrh sufferers Other ordinary symptoms of the disease are headaches pains above the cheek bones roaring sounds in the ears etc These symptoms too point directly to diseased blood and are caused by congestion of the circulation The impurities and catarrhal matters in the blood stream interfere with its easy and natural flow and it becomes feverish and thus affects the delicate fibres and membranes of the throat and head cures Catarrh by cleansing the blood of all impure catarrhal matter and at the same time building up the system by its unequalled tonic effects It goes down into the circulation and removes every trace of impurity or foreign matter In other words cures Catarrh by purifying the blood so that the mucous surfaces and linings of the body are supplied with healthy blood instead of being constantly irritated and diseased from the saturation oF catarrhal impurities Then the inflamed membranes 'heal the discharge is dhecked the head noises all cease the stomach is toned up the throat is no longer clogged with phlegm but every annoying symptom or Catarrh is corrected There is but one way to cure punFy the blood and there is but one absolutely safe and sure blood punner SSS We have a special book on Catarrh we wul send this book and also any medical advice desired free to all who write THE SWIFT SPECIFIC CO AILAHTA GA' Last Possiblo Chance for Election of Associate Justice of -South Carolina
