DOROTHY DIX SAYS Girl Rejects Suitor; He Wanted Pre-Marital Test Dear Dorothy Dix: I thought The knew right from wrong, but have things changed these days? While attending a picnic ly I met a boy. I fell hard for him, and he fell for me. From then on, we were together constantly, datled almost every night, met each other's families, won their approval.

The only lacking was the marriage proposal. I expected thing, that any day. At his sister'- wedding last week he was kiddingly asked, "Why don't you get married?" His answer was, "I'G marry tomorrow if I could be sur it would stick. don't want a marriage that ends in divorce or separation." Later in the evening the subject renewed between us, and he was, ed his position. I said I thought we were suited to each other, but he claims you never can tell how you'd react to situations until you've tried them.

One couldn't be sure of a mate, he said, unless pre relations had established their suitability to each other. asked him to leave, and he did. A few days later he called Ito ask if he was forgiven. He hasn't called again. Now, am I being silly or smart in not giving in? Winnie. Dear Winnie: Your young man is either extremely naive or calcullating clever. It he believes his theory, he's artless indeed. It he doesn't believe it himself, and is just trying to sell you a bill of goods, he's a first- class heel.

From this distance I can't tell which is which. This I can emphatically say, though. Whatever his purpose, the attitude is completely wrong. You are being wise and honorable in defending your owr ideals. Don't surrender them.

Do you want a man to shop for you, as a wife, in the same impersonal manner he uses to buy a suit? Marriage is not a "satisfaction guaranteed or your money back" proposition. Men and women are supposed to be endowed with the intelligence to make a good first choice. He has nothing to lose from his experiment; you have to sacrifice. Don't be misled by fallacious reasoning.
