little too rough at times beat The fighting Bulldogs 19 to 7 here this afternoon to take undisputed possession of the state championship for 1946 A capacity crowd of 10000 watched the rowdy bruising game which was marred by numerous penalties drawn by the Gamecocks 9000 Persons See Rock Hill Defeat Sumter by 20 to 6 BY JAKE PEN LAND Sports Editor Sumter Nov Rock red clad red hot high school footballers made it 18 in a row without loss and laid claim to some sort of mythical title here tonight by turning back an aggressive threat Gamecocks and win-' by Statistics Little Four Battle Tops State Program Newberry Nov 1 favored Indians and the scoreless Wofford Terriers will stage the season's second South Carolina Little Four football meeting here tomorrow night Homecoming for the Indians In one previous Little Four tussle Presbyterian bested Erskine to lead the state's smaller colleges The game here will top South Carolina's home football program for the day Probable lineups were Henry Peoples at center Paul Arledge at left halfback and Earl Carter at fullback Each of these boys acquitted himself well in the game and Arledge had the distinction of throwing the touchdown pass to Olin McGill backs put on their best show of the season and repeatedly got off to good gains against the Greenville team although they were unable to score but once McGill Johnson and Arledge all got off nice runs and Johnson put on an excellent display of twisting and squirming in the final quarter on a 15-yard runback of a Greenville punt Several Greenville players had their hands on him but he would spin right away After Columbia's score which was on the last play of the first period the game settled down to pretty much of a duel between the lines and a punting match between Carter
