rollers operating on the tread-mill cyclometers registering the distances traveled by the contestants This even is being put on by group of Columbia merchants with tha assistance of Strudel manager of the Township auditorium and under the auspices of Richland post of the American Legion At different times previously announced the riders will be rewarded with prizes for the best distances recorded This contest promises to be most interesting Mr Strudel has been advised that in a similar contest recently held in California one of the spectators offered the riders a substantial prize for the best mileage shown in an hour end to the surprise of many one of the riders peddled a record of 46 miles in 60 minutes of perspiring effort When the idee was first advanced it was intended to have teams from surrounding cities compete but this was found impracticable and accordingly a number of Columbia riders hove been signed up The plan is for a rider to peddle for one hour and then hia partner
