S. Space Program Boston Plane Crash BRUSSELS (UPI) -After 10 years of trying to run its own independent space program, Europe decided today to link up with the U.S. post-Apollo program. Ministers of 11 European nations agreed after 13 hours bargaining to put up enough money to build the $370 million Sortie Lab, a key component in the $5.5 billion U.S. Spacelab project. Contracts between the American government and the European Space Research Organization (ERSC) are to be signed Aug. 15. Only 79 per cent of the money is guaranteed, ministers said, because Italy, Norway and Sweden were unable to give ironclad promises they could contribute their combined share of 21 per cent. Because of this, the contract will contain a nullifying clause if the three nations fait to guarantee the funds by Sept. 18. But the ministers said they doubted this would happen. Michael D. Heseltine of Britain said there was "too much momentum" for Italy, Sweden and Norway to back out now. The European work will be carried out over the next eight years on Spacelab, which succeeds Skylab. The first miracle by Jesus was changing of water into wine at a wedding feast.
