Farm Wife At Swea Stricken, Appendicfis „ Citf _ Mrs John Kelly underwent an appendectomy Fri-' day, March 30, at Holy Fanlily hospital, Esthervillo. Mrs Kelly who gave birth to a daughter only two weeks ago, became ill at their farm home near Swea City on Thursday night. She was taken to the hospital, where surgery was performed. As of Sun- clay, she was recovering, although she was still very weak and no visitors were admitted. The three Kelly children are being cared for by their grandparents, Mr and Mrs Joe Preston and Mr and Mrs Otto Kelly and other relatives. Shower Honors Bride A shower honoring a recent bride, Mrs Dean Zielske, was given Monday at the Grant school with about 20 women as hostesses. Decoration's were in the Easter theme, and a program was presented. Mr and Mrs Zielske^ have moved into the apartment over the A. and L. Variety store. Dean Swanson's mother, Mrs Selma Swanson, Fairmont, Minn., has been dismissed from the Fairmont hospital, where she was a heart patient, and is being cared for at her home. Mrs Ida Larson returned recently from a nine day's stay at Excelsior Springs, Mo., with friends. Mr and Mrs Billy Smith and baby have moved from Forest City and will share living quarters with his parents, Mr and Mrs William Smith. Mr and Mrs Ormond Otterstm of Winnebago, Minn., Mi- and Mrs Irving Valvlck and children of Ledyard, Donald Swanson and a classmate from Iowa State College, Ames, the Roy Valvicks and Ed C. Peterson, were Easter guests at the Dean Swanson hpnie. The Immanuel Lutheran Mission Aid will serve a smorgasbord meal on Thursday, April 12, beginning at 5 p.m. The public is invited. Mr and Mrs Vernon Jensen and son Bobby of Algona, Mrs Jensen's mother, Mrs Mayme Dourte, and the Marvin Uhrs of Fairmont, Minn., were Easter guests at the Selmer Uhr home. Mrs Emma Edmonds of Ames is spending the week at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs Claude Gatrost. Marilyn Gabby, primary teacher in a Waterloo grade school, and Mr and Mrs Franklin Gabby and daughter Pamela of Blair, Neb., spent the Easter vacation at the parental, Wm. Gabby home. Franklin .Gabby is -a stu* dent at Dana college at Blair. On Sunday, Mra Jenny Gabby and Mr and Mrs L. H. Moen, all of Lake Mills, were guests at the home. Rev. and Mrs S. H. Hammer attended funeral services at Lake Park on April 2 for Mrs Nelson Grote, wife of a one time Methodist pastor at Lakota, Ledyard and Armstrong. Mrs Grote died Thursday. Supt. and Mrs W. F. Brouwer and daughter Marilyn spent th6 Easter weekend visiting the Brouwer's oldest daughter' at Little Rock. Mr Brouwer is superintendent of the Grant consolidated school. Mr and Mrs Floyd Smith spent Easter with their daughter and family, the Ellsworth Carlsons at Litchfield, Minn. Mr and Mrs Gifford Smith and children Terry, Rodney and JoAnn spent Easter Sunday at Albert Lea, Minn., at the home ot Mr Smith's sister and family, the Harold Evanses. Mr and Mrs Marlin Hardt and children spent Saturday in Min- nesapolis, Minn., attending the Sportsmens' Show at the Auditorium building. Five-year-old Gary DeWald, .son of Mr and Mrs Warren De Wald, is recovering from injuries suffered when he fell from a tret- while playing at his home on Tuesday.
