Gabele, 13118 Pipeline Chino, has returned to his home base at the Imperial Beach Naval Air Station after an 11-month deployment aboard the aircraft carrier USS Midway in the Western Pacific with a detachment of Helicopter Combat Support Squadron One. Gabele is a 1969 Chino High School graduate. Marine Pvt.

JOHN A. ZEPEDA, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andres Zepeda of 664A Sixth Upland, has been graduated from the Infantry Training School at the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base. Zepeda is a 1972 Upland High School graduate.

Airman HAL P. COCHRAN, son of Mr. and Mrs. George D. Cochran, 1276 Via Esperanza, San Dimas, has been assigned to Keesler AFB, Miss, for specialized training in communications-electronics systems.

Negus 938 Pomello Drive, Claremont, is a crew member aboard the Coast Guard cutter Tamaroa credit with cre- dited with rescuing a disabled fishing vessel 125 miles off Nantucket Island, Macs. The Tamaroa is home-ported out of Governors Island, N.Y. Negus attended Citrus Junior College, and joined the Coast Guard in September 1960.

McKnight, all of Pomona, has completed basic training at the Naval Training Center, San Diego. Navy Hospitalman Apprentice JAY H. KESSLER, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Kessler of 2030 Tierra Loma Drive, Diamond Bar, has been graduated from the Hospital Corps School at San Diego.

Chamness, 1805 Wayne Pomona, has been graduated with honors at Chanute AFB, 111., from the Air Force aircraft egress systems equipment repairman course conducted by the Air Training Command. A 1972 graduate of Pomona High School, Chamness has been assigned to George AFB to serve with a unit of the Tactical Air Command.

Seaman Apprentice RUSSELL G. COPPLE, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon H. Copple of 4286 Sierra Vista Drive, Chino, has returned to his home port of Long Beach after a seven-month deployment in the Western Pacific aboard the guided missile frigate USS Truxtun.

During the deployment, the Truxtun served as an air control ship for Navy and Air Force planes and coordinated search and rescue activities in Vietnam. Seaman Apprentice STANLEY L. EUBANKS, son of Mr. and Mrs. Odes Eubanks of 1204 W.

EDWARD C. GONZALES, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Ybarra of 225 W. Budd Ontario has been promoted to the rank of private first class in the headquarters and service battalion at Camp Pendleton.

Air Force Maj. DAVID E. STEINER, son of Dr. and Mrs. Richard M.

Steiner of 760 Plymouth Road, Claremont, has received his sixth award of the Air Medal at Andersen AFB, Guam. Major Steiner was decorated as a WC-130 neavigator when he flew reconnaisance missions involving 15 ext 1 hazardous pentra- tions into fully developed typhoons. FRANK LEE STOOKSBURY, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Stooksbury, Box 212, Big Bear, has enlisted in the Air Force for four years.
