The Post-Register, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Tuesday, May II, 1948 Page 8 Chapter Plans Swim Project Red Cross to Sponsor Classes in July; Instructors Named Red Cross swimming classes will be held in July in the newly remodeled Idaho Falls senior high school pool. Qualified instructors will be in charge. Such a program was planned by the executive board of the Bonneville county chapter of the American Red Cross at a luncheon meeting at the Bonneville hotel Monday afternoon, Mrs. Marie Kellar, chapter executive secretary, reported. It was decided to send Miss Ann Cox, junior high school physical education instructor, and Cy Adkins, senior high school track coach, to attend the aquatic school at Prescott, June 6-16.

Upon their return, they will then be designated as the authorized instructors for the July swimming program. Miss Cox was a swimming instructor last year. Classes will be held for beginners, intermediates and advanced students for both children and adults and also for junior and senior life saving students. Seven persons successfully completed the Red Cross instructors class in first aid last week, directed by Edward Haffey, San Francisco, instructor. They were Arnold T.

Prestgard, Miss Cox, Robert D. Pollock, John A. Thompson, Neils D. Andersen, Osborne A. Goetz and William F.

The Norsemen Saints, service club organized on the campus lastc winter, has been made a chapter of the Knights and members were initiated at a recent gathering of fraternity members at Logan, Utah. Sgt. Lee McCulloch, officer in charge of Rexburg army and air force recruiting office, reported Tuesday that Elwood W. Chambers, 31, Ashton, has enlisted in the U. S.

army for a period of three years. He goes into the army as technical sergeant. Chambers has spent eight years 1 and one month in the U. S. navy, a considerable portion of this time having been spent in the Pacific.

He was a chief mate and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific ribbon with one battle star, Victory medal, American defense ribbon, good conduct medal and American theatre ribbon.
