Bloomington, Feb. 16 Five years afo Miss Green wait, of Bloomington, a young and beautiful girl, daughter of the late Peter Greenwalt, a wealthy contractor, became engaged to Charles Whitney, of Cleveland, bookkeeper for Paige plumbers, of that city.

Just before the wadding day the Paige establishment was burned and Whitney was accused of embezzling $10,0000. Whitney fled and soon after Miss Greenwalt d. She was next heard from at Honolulu, where she joined her lover. She remained in Honolulu two years, and on her return met Paige in Chicago, who agreed to drop the prosecution of Whitney if Miss Greenwalt would pay $5,000. This she agreed to do on reaeh- ing age of 26, at which time was to receive her Inheritance.

She agreed to assign her interest in her estate for this purpose Paige, as claims, accepted het proposition and advanced $5,000 cash to his partners to secure immunity for Whitney, king to Miss Greenwalt for indemnity.
