2 Islands in the Surt 5-10 Festival (CD (British, 1970) Free Shuttle Buses Due Within National Seashore Free shuttle bus serv ice within Point Reye6 National Seashore will begin weekend operation tomorrow, according to James B. Robertsort, acting manager of the Marin County Transit District. Two small buses rented from the Senior Coordinating Council of Marin will leave park headquarters each half hour between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., he said. They will travel in a loop to Santa Maria Beach and Limantour Estero on the so-called road to nowhere, which was carved by developers years ago and formerly did not connect with roads at either end.

The park service recently linked it With Balboa Drive near Inverness Park. The shuttle bus service is being undertaken on weekends in July and August as a trial project to determine, among other things, if it will cut down traffic in the park, Robertson said. The transit district will bear the $3,000 estimated cost, but drivers from Marin Transit Systems will man the little buses. It is noped, Robertson said, that the Golden Gate Bridge District will soon provide bus service between the park and San Rafael, linking it to other areas, too. Riders of the shuttle buses will be given a list of suggestions for hikes and scenic walks in the park which have been compiled by Anne West of Inverness, Robertson said.

Mrs. West has long backed such a shuttle bus system. Does your family have to fight? There is a practical basis for peace in your family. Special Benefit Bill Moves To Senate SACRAMENTO (UPI) -A bill providing some special retirement benefits for a former top official in Gov. Edmund G.

administration is half way through the legislature. The measure which ha.s won Assembly approval will benefit Frank A. Chambers, 62, who served as chief deputy director of public works under Brown and is currently an official with the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District. In effect, the bill would permit Chambers to obtain credit in the state Public Employes Retirement System for up to 10 years of the time he spent working for the federal government in the 1940s and 1950s. The bill does not mention Chambers by name but it spells out qualifications that only he can meet.

Depending on the number of years of federal service he Chose to apply, he could increase his annual pension after retiremenby as much as $8,000. In exchange for the higher benefits, he would have to make up the normal employe and employer contributions to the state system for the period of federal credit he would seek. But the contributions would be based on the lower rates which prevailed when he first went to work for the state in the 1950s. William E. Payne, executive officer of the retirement system, said it would cost Chambers "a few thousand to the system.

current salary with BART is $35,000 a year. Based on that figure retirement at age 63 and using the Public Retirement System formula, he would receive almost $19,500 a year in retirement benefits. This is assuming he seeks credit for the full 10 years of federal service the bill would Chambers said the bill authored by Assemblyman John F.
