County Juvenile Officer Speaks At Lions Club Don Pearson, Stephens County Juvenile officer, was guest speaker at the Lions Club luncheon Wednesday, discussing the affairs of the Stephens County Youth and Advisory, Board which will open Duncan for delinquent children in the very immediate future. Loretta Germings Receives Award Miss Loretta Gennings, Marlow high school senior, recently received an award being the outstanding home economic senior in Marlow high school. Todd Joins Local National Guard Pvt. Floyd T. Todd enlisted in Troop 1 145 Cavalry, 45th division last week. Since he will be a senior in high school in the fall he will enter six months active duty training in June, 1965. American Legion Baseball Team To Play First Game Marlow American Legion baseball team will host Kingfisher the Legion Park at 2:00 p.m. Sunday to start the season. They will play in the S.O.L. Tournament at Duncan on Tuesday at p.m. The Marlow team will play the Cobb winner of the Duncan game to be played Monday night to begin the tournament.

The Duncan-Fort Cobb game i will begin at 6:00 p.m. Monday followed by a game between the Lawton Realtors and the Lawton Colonel at 8:00 p.m. The winners of the first game will play the winners of the Tuesday night game on Wednesday night. Two-car Mishap At Fourth and McNeese Charges were filed against Eston Lacy Cooper following a two car accident at the corner of North Fourth and McNeese Saturday at 6:15 a.m. Involved in the accident were a 1955 Oldsmobile driven by Cooper and a Chevrolet driven by Mrs.

Lila Littrell, route three. The Littrell auto was traveling west on McNeese and the Cooper car was going north on Fourth street when the collision occured. Mrs. Littrell and Kathline, and Cooper were taken to the local hospital following the accident. Cooper was charged with state of intoxication, failed to yield right and no drivers license.

Billy W. Hill Dies In Tulsa; Rites Held Here Billy W. Hill, 44, former Marlow resident, died in a Tulsa Hospital at 12:30 p.m. Thursday lowing a brief illness. Services were held in the Callaway-Smith Chapel at 10:30 a.m.

Monday conducted by Rev. Clarence Ball, pastor of the First Methodist church. Born in Marlow on June 14, 1919, he attended high school in Marlow and attended Virginia Military Institute and Oklahoma University where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Tulsa where he was Standard Investment Company and Marine Sales Incorporated. Survivors include his wife, Robbie Rhea Hill, Tulsa; a son, Charles W.

(Church) Hill, attending Southwestern State College, Weatherford; a daughter, Lynne Paige Hill, attending college in Fulton, his mother, Mrs. J. T. Hill, Marlow, and two sisters, Mrs. E.

Downing and Mrs. H. Drewry, Lawton; also a stepson, Sammy Bayles, Duncan. Pallbearers were Bill Fleetwood, Charlie Wade, Jimmy Wade, J. D.

Scott, Mosse Thompson and Don Browndyke. Burial was in the Duncan Cemetery directed by CallawaySmith Funeral Home. Soil Conservation To Construct Lakes Contract was let this week for the construction of a lake on the Melton Harris farm located nine miles east and three miles north of Marlow. The lake which will cover about 162 acres being constructed by Soil Conservation. Some 324,150 cubic yards of dirt will be used in the dam.

The lake will be built at a cost of $145,566.00 by the Harry Sims Construction Company, Lindsay. Contract has also been let for construction of a lake 15 miles east and two north of the city. This lake will require 38,080 cu. a yards of dirt in the dam and will cover between 30 and 40 acres. Jerry Morgan, Mrs.

R. Smith; four Enumeration Shows Slight Decrease Scholastic enumeration of children in the county who are ages 6 thru 17 was released this week by Ted Malone, county superintendent of schools. Total number of children in the county between the ages with 6 and 17 is 9231 compared 9240 in 1963 a decrease of 9. There are 4,764 males and 4,467 female this year compared with 4,757 males and 4,483 females last year. Eleven districts showed an increase over last year while four had a decrease and one remained the same.

Enumerations are as follows: Duncan, 4,984 compared with in 1963, an increase of 37; Comanche, 731 compared with 730 in 1963 an increase of Marlow, 906 compared with 919 year decrease Velma Alma, 587 compared with 623 last year, a decrease of 36; Empire, 319 compared with 301 last year, an increase of 18. Loco, 153 compared with 147 last year, an increase of Central High, 258 compared with 248, an increase of 10; Bray, 241 compared with 218, an increase of 23; Doyle, 144 compared with 135, an increase of 9. Old Hope Cemetery Clean Up Day Set To all persons who are acquaintances, friends, or relatives of people interested in the Old Hope cemetery, you are invited to meet with us at the cemetery, miles south-east of Marlow, on Memorial Day, Saturday, May 30, to clean properly care for the graves and grounds. A basket lunch will be served at noon following the business meeting.

Bill Fletcher Named Captain of All-State Bill Fletcher, commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, has been named captain of the All-State VFW Commander's team and will represent the state in the national contest. Each year 11 commanders are selected for the all-state team and one is selected captain. Marlow's commander has been on the allstate for the past eight years. Fletcher is the first one to be named captain of the team. Winner of the national award will receive an all expenses paid trip to the Nation VFW convention to be held in Cleveland, Ohio.

Each member of the all-state team received a diamond stick pin. Benefit Planned To Send Delegates To National Convention A benefit skating party will be held at the townhouse on Thursday night (tonight) with proceeds going to the Marlow Future Business Leaders of America to be used to send delegates to the national convention on June 12. Marlow FBLA spelling team won first in the state to qualify for the national contest; Miss Penny Martin was elected a voting delegate at the state convention, and Miss Glenda Haught will go for the speech contest. FIFTH STREET BAPTIST "Our Bible, God's will (Continued on Page Five) Physical Fitness Test Given In Local Elementary School As a part of the physical fitness program in the Marlow Elementary school, physical fitness tests were recently administered to students in grades three, four, five and six. Each student was tested on his ability to perform the following events: the standing broad jump; 50 yard dash, and pull-ups or chinning, and sit-ups. Performances were rated according to the national scale established ythe President's Council on Physical Fitness. Ratings include; 1 excellent, 2-good, 3-satisfactory, and 4-poor.

The following represent average ratings achieved by the students in the Marlow physical fitness program; standing broad jump, 2.16 (good); 50 yard dash2.86 (good); and (satisfactory); pull (excellent). All boys 13 and 14 years of age interested in baseball are invited to attend the meeting.

Coaching the team this year will be Oren Bynum and James Dixon. Local Speech Students Organize Drama Club A Drama Club was organized for the coming year by active school meeting. J. speech students. of Marlow high Loafman, speech instructor, served as host for the meeting and served refreshments.

Since Miss Ann Eudaley was chosen outstanding senior in speech for the year, she presided as the honorary president. Tillman has resigned as pastor of the Bray Missionary Baptist church and has accepted a position as pastor of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist church, Ringling. Rev. Tillman's resignation is efective June 14 and he will deliver his final sermon on June 7. Rev.

and Mrs. Tillman and their Robert, will move to Ringling the week of June 15. Rev. three Tillman days will a return week to Marlow, at Oklahoma Missionary Baptist Institute. He will teach English, advance Greek and Hebrew.

He received his Bachelor of Theologize in 1962 and his Master of Theologize in 1963 from O.M.B.I. He has taught at the school for the past two years as a student teacher. National Guardsmen On Active Duty Five members of Troop 1st 145 Cavalry, 45th Division have departed for six months active duty training at Fort Polk, La. and Fort Jackson. S.

reported to Fort Polk, to begin training as armored intelligence specialists. Rev. Jack Webb, Pvt. Kenneth Blades and Pvt. Jerry Shelton reported to Fort Jackson to be trained as scouts and riflemen.

When their active duty time is completed in November of 1964, these men will return to the Marlow Unit of the National Guard to complete their remaining military obligation by attending monthly meetings and annual field training. Girl Scout Day Camp To Begin Girl, Scout Day Camp will begin Monday, June 1. The camp held on the Mary Ward farm, northeast of the city, will be held daily from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. during the week. Girl Scouts and Brownies should meet at the scout hut at 1:00 p.m.

on Monday with a sack lunch. The girls will return to the hut about 5:30 p.m. Mrs. Bruce Scruggs and Mrs. Weldon Iverson will be camp directors this year.
